 At Samuel Ward Academy GCSE results for Year 11 released this summer have broken records with pupils achieving our highest ever results.

91% of pupils achieved 5 or more A* - C grades;

65% achieved 5 or more A* - C grades with English, maths and science.  (62% E & M)

 Over 30% of the year group achieved 3 or more A*/A grades

75% achieved an A* - C grade in English and over 70% in maths.

Over half achieving an A* - C grade in modern foreign language

Over 30% achieved the English Bacc.

5 or more A*-G grades – 100%

Head Teacher, Howard Lay, said: “These outstanding  results  will enable so many pupils to access A level and University courses. They are way above the national average and achieved through hard work, commitment and outstanding teaching.  Our students have achieved high results in traditional subjects rather than opting for the easier options which do not help them progress to A level. I am confident that we will again be at the top of the Suffolk league table for value added outcomes.

Outstanding pupil successes include:

Megan Beardmore          from Clare                           6 A*s and 4 As

Andrew Barrett-Sprot    from Wickhambrook      5A*s and 3 B’s

Rebecca Cruz                     from Haverhill                   2 A*s and 7 A’s

Ronald Dadds                    from Haverhill                   4 A*s and 4 A’s

Adam Peck                         from Clare                           3 A*s and 5 A’s
