Castle Manor's new Communications Faculty!

When faced with the fact that Castle Manor would be taking on an extra two years (Years 7&8), a challenge arose - how to find enough space to accommodate these extra pupils. However, in choosing the option of refurbishing Parkway Middle School to become part of Castle Manor, it meant that a new use could be made out of a place that housed many childhood memories, and could continue to do so.

The site is now known as the Communications Faculty, after much deliberation as to what the space should be used for. Rather than placing just years 7 and 8 there, which would create another middle school, the team at Castle Manor came to the decision that the site would be ideal as a Communications Faculty.

"Communications' subjects, such as English and History, do not require as much technical resources as Science and Art. Parkway did not contain these resources previously so the decision was made to place communications subjects on the site.' says Mr Wayne Lloyd, Deputy Head at Castle Manor."

The new site looks fantastic, with the original gym being split in two to house a new dance studio and media suite – the media suite being one of the best in the county. Extensive changes have also been made to the dining hall and classrooms.

Castle Manor are holding an Open Morning for the Communications Faculty on 8th October. For more information visit Castle Manor Open Day. They hope you will join them to see the fantastic facility firsthand.
