Volunteers contribute greatly to life at St Nicholas Hospice Care and work in almost every area of the organisation. Their roles are vital; at present we have more than 500 volunteers giving more than 2,000 hours of support each week.
There are many reasons people volunteer:
A chance to gain work experience to give them confidence and improve their opportunities
Some find retirement leaves a void and volunteering gives them a chance to be around people
A strong desire to give something back to the local community
