Car boot sales have become something of a phenomenon in recent years.

Whether this is down to the popularity of such programmes as Car Booty, Cash in the Attic or Bargain Hunt, or our irrepressible urge to seek out a bargain or make a bit of cash selling what we’d consider junk but others think of treasures is down to the individual but one thing’s for sure – car boot sales are springing up everywhere!

Just in the last ten days of April, Haverhill residents can pick and choose from a huge selection of car boot sales taking place in the local area.

Haverhill Car Boot Sale is taking place on Sunday 22nd April at Haverhill Recreation Ground from 8am. There’s no booking necessary and all sellers are welcome; a pitch costs £6.

Alternatively, Cavendish & Glemsford Car Boot Sale is a hardstanding car boot and indoor table sale at The Old Filling Station in Sudbury, which is open for traders from 7am and buyers from 8am, also on Sunday 22nd and Sunday 29th April. Traders and the general public are welcome, with sellers’ fees ranging from £5 - £8 and entry costing 20p (concessions free).

For those of you who don’t like getting up quite as early as the birds, there is always the option of the Steeple Bumpstead’s Second Village Garage Sale from 10am until 4pm this Sunday. With pitches across the village and signified by red balloons, why not come along and grab a bargain?

Taking place on Friday 27th April, Cornard United FC Car Boot Sale is new this year and starts at 6pm – that’s right, an evening car boot! Floodlit when dark and covered if wet, sellers’ fee is £5 and entry for buyers is 50p.

On Saturday 28th April is the Bury St Edmunds Car Boot Sale, which is held on Newmarket Road from 7am. Buyer entry fee is 20p; sellers pitch fees are £6 per car, £8 per small van and £2 extra for trailers.

Organised by the Boot Group, the Home Farm Car Boot Sale is also being held on Saturday 28th April in Westley, Bury St Edmunds. Starting at 7am, sellers’ fee is £6 or £8 and entry fee costs 20p.

On Sunday 29th April is the Woolpit Car Boot Sale on the Bury Road. Open to sellers from 6:30am and buyers from 8am, sellers fees are £7 or £11 and entry for buyers is free.

And last, but certainly not least is the Rougham Airfield Car Boot Sale on Sunday 29th – a car boot sale alongside a Sunday and Farmers’ Market, craft, home, garden and general market.

Open to sellers at 8:30am and costing £7 or £11, the car boot sale is free for buyers and open from 10am.
