Two members of the local Specsavers team, optometrist director Sarah Burchett and optometrist Rachael de Carteret, have together raised more than £500 for local charities.

Both women recently completed a half-marathon to raise the money. Sarah, who was running in aid of Guernsey Chest and Heart, was relieved to have completed the race: I definitely wouldn't say I enjoyed it but there was a great sense of relief at the finish line! It was a fantastic run but my legs suffered afterwards. It took me the rest of this week to recover.

Rachael, who has raised more than £350 for the Guernsey Blind Association, is delighted with her fund-raising efforts. The Guernsey Blind Association is a charity that helps those with a visual impairment living in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, explains Rachael. It's a hugely worthwhile cause and I was delighted to be able to raise some funds for them.
