As we related in a blog from last month, Specsavers Opticians Market Street have been selling comedy hand-waving glasses for Red Nose Day to raise funds for Comic Relief. We can now relate that their efforts here in Guernsey met with great success.
In the run-up to Red Nose Day, and on the day itself, Specsavers Opticians Market Street sold a total of 1,250 comedy hand-waving glasses, each costing £2 each. This raised a grand total of £2,500 for the charity.
Sarah Burchett, store director of Specsavers Opticians Market Street, said: "We're delighted that we were able to sell so many specs and raise this money for Comic Relief. I'd like to thank everyone who bought a pair and it was lovely to see so many people wearing them on Red Nose Day."
Specsavers has been a partner of Comic Relief since 2015. Comic Relief funds hundreds of charitable projects that help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives, both in the UK and across Africa.
The Guernsey store joined Specsavers stores from across the whole of the UK to support this British charity, raising a total of £493,000 across the entire organisation.
We are sure you will join us in congratulating Specsavers on their fundraising efforts. For more information about Specsavers Opticians Market Street please check out their feature page here at thebestof Guernsey.
