Quantum is an independent business providing data & electrical installations & maintenance services throughout the Channel Islands. They are able to install copper and fibre optic solutions, wireless networking and facilities management services.
Since Quantum Cabling was established in 2004, they really have been going the distance. It may surprise you to know that in the last 12 months alone, Quantum has installed approximately 91.5 miles worth of cabling. That is the equivalent of running the London Marathon three and a half times!
And Quantum’s Mark Addlesee knows exactly what it feels like to run a marathon having taken part in the 2012 London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April. Mark undertook a training programme for four months, lost over a stone in weight and having successfully completed the 26.2 miles in 4 hours 21 minutes and 49 seconds, can now tick this off his bucket list.
Having gained a charity place, Mark raised over £1,500 for Sense (a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind) and £600 for local charity Help A Guernsey Child. The money was raised through car boot sales, charity functions at his local pub and selling donated items from Quantum clients. Mark hasn’t been put off by this gruelling challenge either - he continues to run and is already signed up and seeking corporate sponsorship to take part in the 2013 London Marathon.
Quantum Cabling not only support local charities but also encourage local talent. They were principal sponsors for the Guernsey Press Design an Ad competition in 2010 and 2011 and this year are one of the section sponsors. This competition gives local school children the opportunity to be creative and come up with interesting designs for each sponsor. The team at Quantum enjoy taking part, giving something back to the community and seeing the varied designs the students come up with. Judging and presentations are now completed and the winning designs will feature in a special edition of the Press on Friday 6 July 2012.
In addition, Quantum has sponsored the U14 Vale Rec Football Club by providing shirts to wear in The Isle of Wight Premier Youth Football Festival. Quantum’s Rob Dodd has a son who plays for the club and feels it is important, as a company, to encourage and support where they can.
Keeping it local in business is also very important to Quantum. They are currently busy working for the new Les Beaucamps school project, where they have installed 1,300 data points using over 103km of Cat6 data cable. The team enjoys a challenge and finds each job brings its own trials. Whether the building is listed, a new build, or on another Channel Island, there is no job too big or small.
St Sampson’s High School is their biggest job to date and another challenge they overcame was installing a fibre optic network within Herm Island.
“We take pride in providing an efficient and quick service regardless of the size of the job. If you provide a good service you will be recommended and we have gained many new jobs through word of mouth”. Rob Dodd.
