The Business of the Year Awards is organised by thebestof, and here at thebestof Guernsey we are committed to raising the profile of local, independent, recommended businesses serving Guernsey. Accordingly we have announced the winner of the Guernsey Business of the Year 2017 Awards.

The Captains received 363 reviews during the campaign to win the coveted accolade of Business of the Year 2017. In second place, with 319 reviews was Trim Dog Pet Centre and in third position with 134 reviews was JR Photography.

Rick de Garis of thebestof Guernsey commented: "The Captains is a very worthy winner once again. The number and quality of the reviews they received are a real testament to their ongoing commitment to deliver excellent service and a positive customer experience. There was stiff competition for the top place between them and Trim Dog Pet Centre so the final result was close."

At a national level The Captains, Trim Dog Pet Centre, JR Photography, Specsavers Opticians Market Street, Forest Road Garage and Firstcall won the Award in their category, beating off fierce competition from businesses across the UK.

Rick added: "Those businesses who won or were commended in their category nationally can also be very proud of their achievements. With six category winners our local businesses have certainly placed Guernsey on the map for all the right reasons."

During the campaign, local people were asked to show their support for their favourite business by submitting a review of the service they had received.

Rick commented: "We are incredibly proud of all our local businesses who qualified for the Guernsey Business of the Year Awards. They received some fantastic reviews from local people using their services. On behalf of the businesses I would like to thank every single person who took the time to leave a review. By doing so they publicly acknowledged the contribution that these businesses make to our local economy."

At a national level over 37,000 verified reviews were left for those businesses who had qualified to take part in the Awards. The Awards operate at a national and local level with a UK Business of the Year, Category Business of the Year and Town Business of the Year.

The final word goes to Alison de la Mare from The Captains, "We are delighted to have won Guernsey Business of the Year Awards 2017, we appreciate being recognised for the job that we do. We have loved receiving the reviews and reading what our customers think of us! It's been a very motivating and positive experience for everyone associated with the business."

thebestof will be hosting a Celebration Ball, on Friday 28th April 2017 at The St Johns Hotel in the Midlands, to celebrate the success of the Award winners. There will also be a local Awards evening at La Reunion on Friday 17th March 2017 to celebrate the local winners.
