Local fish & chip shop Beetons has run a charity day event and has raised over four thousand pounds for a local charity.

Beetons is a local family business run by Kim and Andy Ashplant, now in their seventeenth year of business, and has always had close ties to the local community. In a spirit of giving back to that community Beetons committed to donating the profits from all meals sold during their lunchtime and evening openings on 30th December 2016 to local charity Les Bourgs Hospice.

Accordingly Beetons asked their regular customers to come and help them to raise as much money as possible on the day. So it was, the day before 2016 ended, hundreds of locals queued up in the winter cold outside their local chippy to help raise as much money as possible for a worthy local cause. The Beetons Facebook page here shows a time-lapse video of how busy Beetons were.

By the end of the day the total amount raised was a huge £4,250. The money will be used to help Les Bourgs Hospice cover some of their running costs, which total £1m annually.

We are sure you will join us in congratulating Beetons and their customers on this great fundraising effort. If you would like to find out more about Beetons please check out their feature page here.
