The new season begins at Exeter Racecourse on Thursday, October 6 and to celebrate the return of racing, the course has joined forces with two local businesses which means every single racegoer who attends will receive £10 off a meal of £20 or more at Princesshay Exeter's Coal + Grill Bar and £5 off purchases of £50 or more at Leonard Coombe Master Saddlers and Country Life in Newton Abbot.
General manager Alice Everitt said: "It's great to continue our ongoing association with both Princesshay and Leonard Coombe and we hope it will be an added incentive for people to come along and enjoy a day at the races. We also have giveaways on each raceday up until Christmas and have teamed up with Exeter Chiefs, Princess Theatre Torquay, the South West Equine Fair and Racing Post books."
Exeter is arguably one of the South West's best racecourses, with past luminaries like Desert Orchid, Kauto Star, Denman and Best Mate gracing the track and Everitt said that she was looking forward to seeing more potential top prospects beginning their racing careers at Exeter during the course of the season.
"It's a bit like watching premier team footballers as they start out on their careers and its a great place to spot future superstars. Last season Spirit Son won a race and all being well he could go on to feature in some of the country's top hurdle race," she added.
The highlight of the year is the Haldon Gold Cup on November 1 and Philip Hobbs and Paul Nicholls have both pinpointed the race for the seasonal debuts of Captian Chris and Ghizao respectively.
"It means the race will be its usual high standard and it's a day we all really look forward to," said Everitt.
Other dates to note this season are Best Mate Novice Chase day, October 18; Tote Haldon Gold Cup, November 1; Prize Winners', November 9; British Armed Forces Free Raceday, November 20; Axminster Carpets Raceday, December 2; Festive Fun and Christmas Cheer, December 15.
