The Maynard School is busy preparing to welcome girls considering their options for Sixth Form this Thursday 20 October.
The Sixth Form Open Evening takes place from 6pm-8pm and is an informal opportunity for anyone considering an independent education for their daughter at 16+ to visit the school, meet staff and students and learn more about the Sixth Form experience.
The evening will be a chance for prospective Sixth Formers to find out more about the 23 different A Level subjects on offer, including Economics, Music, Psychology, Classical Greek and Chemistry, as well as the AQA Baccalaureate.
Students and their parents will also have a chance to find out about the exciting programme of Extension Studies for Sixth Formers which offers students knowledge and experience that goes beyond their academic work. The programme includes a wide variety of topics, including Film Making, Music Technology, Politics, Cookery for Students, Car Maintenance, Relaxation Techniques and Hot Debate.
In 2011 66% of A-level students gained A* or A Grades, with 81% gaining A*, A or B Grades. All students gained places at their fist or second choice of University.
Karen James, Head of Sixth Form, said ‘The Sixth Form Open Evening is an excellent opportunity for students to gain a real taste of life at the Maynard Sixth Form. It’s a very friendly environment, and our Sixth Formers are given the opportunity to achieve their very best academically, while at the same time developing their sense of adventure and leadership skills and having a lot of fun! Everyone is welcome to attend on Thursday, and we look forward to seeing you.’
