The Maynard School of Exeter - an excellent independent school in Exeter for bright girls who are eager to learn - Imagine Aspire and Achieve
Welcoming girls who are bright and who want to be stimulated by all that a good, well rounded education offers, The Maynard School in Exeter was founded in 1658 by Sir John Maynard and is the third oldest girls' school in the UK.
The Maynard School ranks consistently well in the national league tables, and, consequently, it is recognised as one of the top performing independent schools in the UK.
As well as enjoying a challenging pace of learning, all of the girls have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Areas our girls have excelled in include:
sports
sailing
equestrian pursuits
music
poetry
mathematics
acting
writing
Also, many Maynardians become good 'all rounders', excelling academically and also at a variety of other activities, including those who are involved with serving the local community and the school through fundraising and volunteering activities.
At The Maynard School , we offer excellent pastoral support; our nurturing approach has often worked wonders with girls who are less confident. We have a Study Skills and Learning Support Department offering help for study or organisation skills which includes help for a specific learning disability (for instance, dyslexia).
For girls from Year 3 in our Junior School through to Senior School and onto Sixth Form, the qualities we find most abundant amongst Maynardians are inquisitiveness, confidence without arrogance, a cheerful, "can-do" attitude and compassion for others.
