The 6 hour emergency first aid at work class is completed as a 1 day in person course. The course covers what to do in an emergency situation with a child (over 1yr) or adult and is suitable for anyone who wants to receive training in emergency first aid within a smaller, low risk working environment. By the end of the course, successful candidates will be able to: • Understand the role and responsibility of a first aider. • Assess an incident including conducting a primary survey. • Help a child or adult who is unresponsive and breathing normally. • Help a casualty who is having a seizure. • Help a child or adult who is unresponsive and NOT breathing normally. • Administer CPR including using a defibrillator. • Recognise and assist a child or adult who is choking. • Help a casualty who is wounded and bleeding. • Recognise and help a casualty who is in shock (from severe blood loss). • Help a casualty with a minor injury. • Help a casualty with a suspected fracture. All attendees will receive a course book. Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the student, there is no final exam. Those students who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate that is valid for 3 years. Free on site parking is available . The venue is close to bus and train links. Strict infection control measures will be in place during the class and you will be asked to wear a mask (dependent on restrictions at the time). *For those in a larger or higher risk setting, you may prefer our First Aid at Work courses. Email jen@minifirstaid.co.uk regarding upcoming courses. Unfortunately we have a no refund policy.
