There is an exciting community wide initiative that is coming to the streets of Eastbourne this September.

Beat the Street is a fun, free, community wide initiative that will run between Wednesday 16 September 2020 and Wednesday 4 November 2020. The aim is to get Eastbourne residents walking, cycling and running around the area to promote health, wellbeing and active transport.

Beat the Street will see Eastbourne transformed into a giant game for seven weeks, with weekly challenges and the chance to win amazing prizes along the way! We are inviting all residents: local groups, schools, families and individuals to get involved with this exciting project.

The initiative is funded by the National Lottery on behalf of Sport England, Eastbourne Borough Council, East Sussex County Council Public Health, South Downs National Park and Edeal.

All players will be given a card or fob to swipe over sensors called Beat Boxes, mounted on 80 lampposts across the Eastbourne area. Players gather points as they walk, cycle, scoot or run between Beat Boxes to climb the leaderboard. Players can collect a card or fob from one of the many distribution points in Eastbourne that can be found on the website:

All players can register now on the website! You can play as an individual, join a team or create your own team and get friends and family to join!

Beat the Street is low-risk, contactless and easy to play whilst maintaining social distancing. It is created by a team of physical health experts led by Dr William Bird, a GP working on the NHS frontline against Covid-19. | Beat the Street Facebook (Please like our page!):
