Played on one of the hottest days of the year, didn't realise how hilly it was but what a gem. From the moment we arrived both members and staff alike were polite, pleasant and extremely welcoming.
The pro was very helpful, (left our batteries at home) The course was in great condition, a tough track, not for the faint heart'd, but would definitely play again.
Lovely atmosphere in the clubhouse, bar staff and young lady clearing were all very pleasant and helpful. We ordered a sandwich and fries, it was like a meal, very good & plentiful, good value for money.
If you're ever in this area this is a must play course.
Thank you to every one at Willingdon GC.

This golf course is less than 3 miles from where I live but I have never played it before and what a loss, this place really is a gem, quite one of the best courses I have ever played. It was no surprise when I learnt that it had been designed by the same man who designed Augusta National, as it is interesting and challenging at every turn. Two or three times fairways cross each other but always they are clearly marked with instructions about priority play and it in no way detracts from the the enjoyment on the course. In addition to the interesting greens and and sweeping fairways every now and then one is presented with the most magnificent views over Eastbourne and the coast beyond, this really is the most scenic of golf courses. I managed to get an online booking at only £20 a head for the round which is laughably cheap for a golf course of this quality. It is not an easy course and the undulating nature of the holes means that after 18 of them you will know you've played a round of golf but the effort is so rewarding that I would absolutely recommend this course to any golfer at any level who is prepared to try and master it.
It was a bonus that everyone we spoke to on arrival, and until we left, was utterly charming and friendly and the pro shop was extremely welcoming and helpful. If you enjoy your golf and have never played this lovely course then I would highly recommend you go out of your way to try and do so.

No golf for us. Bright and pleasant surroundings for getting together socially and enjoying their amazing food. No more after this week I'm afraid. Policy decisions have meant they will no longer be served by these first class caterers x

The best course in the area. You never get muddy, good greens which are amazing in the summer. It's tough and hilly and plays a lot longer than the yardage suggests. It's not particularly posh, so very welcoming and friendly. Some great holes and some strange par 3 holes!

We had a Sunday meal here. In the words of our daughter it was a "Banging roast". Good selection of roast food and trimmings, gorgeous puddings and a coffee. Price is very reasonable and the food is lovely. However, average age of the clientel is around 70, so not for the young, parking on a golf day is a nightmare, and we had to haggle to pay by card, they prefer cash so be warned.

This has to be the best Sunday Lunch in Town. The roasts were delicious, roast potatoes perfect and crispy, yorkshire puddings great and vegetables super. The desert choice was amazing. Staff and the Chef were really lovely and so helpful. A very reasonable orice too. A must to visit. We're going back. Booking essential.

Willingdon is a super course, very interesting set in the combe of the hill. An Alistair McKenzie course is suitable for all standards with some super views to the sea. Food also excellent.

We attended our family members wedding reception Saturday 4th May, the venue itself is nice and the grounds are great for photos. However the service from the barman was a little off, rolled his eyes when I wanted to pay by card and when I notified him there wasnt any toilet roll in the ladies his reply was "we dont have any more , i cant do anything the cleaners do it in the morning" , never heard anything so ridiculous. With 2 hours still left of the reception we were all having to pray we dont need the loo again! The girl behind the bar was lovely , smiley and friendly.

Have played the course many times and currently a member at another club in Eastbourne. 5 of us played yesterday- course in great condition and we enjoyed the round. However the welcome from the barman was a tad hostile. Firstly we waited 15 minutes before he appeared and when one of my friends went to go downstairs to ask he was met by the barman he growled “Take that off!” Referring to his cap. He looked us all up and down and said “Stand over there if you have spikes “ We didn’t we had treads or trainers. He reluctantly poured out drinks and seemed annoyed we ordered a 2nd round. The club charges £33.50 for a round despite the course being very quiet- 2nd most expensive in Eastbourne. No reciprocal with our other clubs. Common sense should prevail. 5 local businessmen - what an opportunity. But no just take the money. Great location and generally a good day out but I think I’ll stick with my own club for the foreseeable future.
