My cousin lives in Eastbourne but we don't get together often and I was really surprised when, on a recent visit, she suggested that we go to Sovereign Harbour Marina as I had no idea it existed. My husband and brother were with me and we all thoroughly enjoyed strolling round this lovely Marina. It was a sunny day even if very breezy but we still enjoyed an al fresco coffee along with many other people out to make the most of a sunny Saturday morning. We walked round to the lock and spent some time watching the activity there. Eastbourne is a really good place to visit these days - several theatres, an attractive seafront/promenade, good shopping area, close to Beachy Head and NT's Birling Gap and also the lovely Marina.

Went here by local bus while staying in Eastbourne. This gem is hidden behind a shopping complex about 10 from Eastbourne. When you find it it is like a marina in the Mediterranean. There are bars and restaurants in the complex surrounding it with some amazing apartments

This is a great place to be with lovely restaurants and walks. We visit the marina all the time as it's so relaxing even if you just want tea for two or a coffee it's lovely or just a nice stroll round.

If you staying in Eastbourne or are local and are at a loss what to do this evening (I was). Stroll round the Sovereign harbour, look at all the yachts and boats moored. It's a place to chill and enjoy the sound of rigging slapping masts in the breeze and envy the owners (I did). Afterwards, take your choice of the many and varied restaurants and bars and enjoy a beer or a beer and meal. The meal prices in the restaurants range from £5 - £30 dependant on the venue.

Took advantage of nice day to walk to the Harbour. About 40 mins from Eastbourne. If you like boats you'll enjoy looking at the variety here. I had an enjoyable pint in the Harvester.

My wife and I walked to the Marina from Eastbourne whilst staying at The Majestic Hotel as part of a coach tour. The walk took us about an hour along the flat but was well worth it when we got there just to see the magnificent boats of all shapes and sizes. After a cup of coffee in one of the many outlets we had a pleasant walk back

Oh to dream!!
Even our 2 1/2 grandson was overawed when the bridge was raised to let a huge 57' yacht out and 1 out of 4 actually managed to say hello back to him

We used to live in Eastbourne, so on a recent visit we walked along the prom from the pier (a walk that is highly recommended – and easy). But on arriving at the Marina it was a ghost town. We walked right to the centre but it was dead everywhere. If Eastbourne had tumbleweed, then it would have been rolling through the Marina. All of the houses seemed empty (presumably holiday homes) and it was just so depressing, because we know from previous visits that in summer it is a fun place to be. So the lesson is to go there when the weather is warm and the sun is up, but don't bother in February. Since we know that Eastbourne developed the Marina as an all-year-round destination, it's sad that it's turned out like this.

Just come and look at the boats or walk around the many paths around the marina. Lots of places to eat and drink. Great to while away a few hours. Lots of free parking.

Right next door to the Crumbles, Sovereign harbour is continually growing and changing. There are plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants along with a couple of independent gift shops. It's great watching the boats being checked and then the big crane winching them into the harbour.
