Really lovely cocktails and lovely food. Personally I was blown away by the bakewell tart cocktail which was literally the nicest drink I've ever had. Had fish and chip Friday's which again was fantastic. Really really impressed and will be taking my friends and family when they visit Eastbourne.

Following a number of recommendations I booked an outdoor table for three at this charming privately owned restaurant. Whilst the wife runs front of house the husband cooks the most delicious fayre. We had three courses and all were excellent. Drinks too were of a high standard - A good house white and a non alcoholic distilled item served with tonic which also hit the mark. The service was well timed and sufficiently solicitous. All in all a first class dining experience. Not cheap, BUT, based on the quality of the food and overall experience, very good value. We will certainly be visiting again.

I was really looking forward to eating here and my expectations were met. Regarding covid measures, everything was really reassuring - tables are suuuuuper spaced out, hand sanitiser at the entrance, staff wearing masks etc. This was one of my first indoor meals out since covid and I was very relaxed about everything.
The lunch menu isn't huge but I found plenty of things of interest and settled on a panzanella salad which I loved. There are two drinks menus, so make sure you ask for the wine list if you want something alcoholic; I assumed they didn't have a lunchtime alcohol license so didn't realise this.
The food was beautiful and tasted incredible. So many flavours going on in a simple salad. It was so flavoursome. I had eton mess for dessert which was very nice but not spectacular, although I guess there is only so much you can do with an eton mess.
Service was great. Attentive, relaxed and not overbearing. Prices were very reasonable and I will definitely be returning. This is one of the better restaurants in Eastbourne, so please make sure you support them because they've created a safe space for you to enjoy great food.

Can’t complain about anything. I’m not one to write any sort of reviews. I was left with no choice this time. Best poached eggs I’ve ever had. Friendly and polite staff. Reasonably quick service. Great tea and nice fresh local juices. Pancakes were also perfect.would most definitely come back to Eastbourne to eat from here again.

In my view the best restaurants in Eastbourne.

Shame it only opens towards the end of the week.

Interesting menu well cooked what’s not to like.
Please try to go to ensure it remains during this difficult period

We came here for brunch and turned it into a three course meal once we saw the menu.
The staff are very friendly and inviting- including the kitchen staff greeting everyone on their way to the outdoor seating area.
The absolute highlight for us was the lemon posset - it was so good we came back for that the next day too!
Another visit to Eastbourne will not be complete without stopping by for a meal.

Can’t praise Skylark enough; wonderful atmosphere, delightful, friendly, polite and chatty staff, truly delicious, exceptional food (and I’m fussy). Best steak I’ve had in a long long time. Super place befitting of the title lovely cafe by day and chic restaurant by night. Highly recommended

We want to support independent places, and we’d heard good things about this place. Our dinner was superb. They know how to cook high quality food here with many local offerings. Before our food we had local vodka and gin. For starters I had the crab tian, I don’t normally like crab, but this sounded different and the fresh tastes were delicious. My wife enjoyed the asparagus. For mains the southern coast sea bass was tasty, the samphire in butter was gorgeous, I’d only had it as a garnish before. My wife was brave and opted for the fish of the day - sea bream. The fish flesh was flavourful, but she had to fight with the whole fish to get it off and avoid the bones. The lemon posset dessert was tangy and sweet with the meringue, the accompanying shortbread was melted in my mouth. We paid just over £80, including a bottle of house white, which is a good price for the quality we had. Service was attentive and friendly. The room with tables spaced out as they have to these days was pleasant with all the plants and varied pieces of art for sale. I would have appreciated a cushion on the hard wooden chair, though. On a hotter day it would be lovely to eat out in the garden below. We recommend this place if you like quality food.

I try to be vegan. This place is well regarded. Why on a Sunday is the nut roast not vegan? If pub chains can offer a vegan nut roast why not here? On a plus note the lovely waitress was very accommodating. But what I ended up with was a concoction...a very agreeable one but a nut roast would have been even more agreeable. I am sure you can make vegan yorkshire puddings.. maybe with ground flax seed or aquafab to replace the egg?
They had one vegan desert.. where was the vegan icecream...where were the vegan brownies.. all standard fare in todays restaurant?
The environment was charming.. but no paper towels in the loo?
My friend defended the restaurant saying it was Eastbourne not Hastings. She had the nut roast.. wished it was more crunchy. I think she was bring too kind.. veganism is here to stay and growing

Went in yesterday with the intention of getting some food but because the kitchen was closed we were unable to sample the menu. We settled for the hot chocolate and whilst good would have been great to eat too.

The cafe allows dogs during the daytime but not in the evenings. I think we had fun even misty the dog we brought in, We will be back with the hope that we can try your food.

Amazing staff too, very welcoming and warm. We'll be back for sure and re-review when we do :)
