I come here regularly for family occasions and the standard never fails to impress me. The food is always lovely with perfect filling portions. Staff- super friendly, patient and attentive; the owner always recognises us and once even overheard us talk about my father's birthday and surprised us with a candle and birthday song. PeM will always be our go-to restaurant!

Unbelievably good food! On a late Saturday evening, without a reservation and not much hope, we walked into the restaurant and were lucky enough to snag the last table for two. We opted for two of the chef’s specials: brown rice risotto with prawns and asparagus, and monkfish with prawns and cherry tomatoes. Both dishes were exceptional—the risotto and monkfish were hands down the best meals I’ve had this year. There was nothing left on the plates ☺️ We also enjoyed a mixed salad, non-alcoholic cocktails (Bambino and virgin mojito), and a shared portion of profiteroles for dessert. The profiteroles were good, though the chocolate sauce was a bit intense, and the choux puffs were softer than expected, but still a satisfying portion for two.<br><br>The service was lovely, though occasionally slow due to the busy evening, which was understandable. Our waiter, John, was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring we were happy with everything. I highly recommend this place to anyone in Eastbourne. It's a shame I don't live nearby—if I did, I'd be a regular!

Old school Italian with a buzz, very popular place .Good food and service.

We took a chance in this restaurant for lunch on our way to the theatre. What a lovely surprise it was, we had the 2 course set price lunch, and it so exceeded our expectations. Quick service, beautifully presented, hot, tasted great and very reasonably priced. Only 2 of us dined but I belong to a theatre group and we'll definitely recommend this restaurant to the group next time we visit Eastbourne.

Certainly one of the best restaurants in Eastbourne.<br><br>We decided to spend the last weekend of the season in the Eastbourne area and we discovered this Italian jewel slightly inland from the main promenade of Eastbourne.<br>In a period of the year when other locales think about batting down the hatches for the winter this place was chock full of people at all times for lunch, brunch and dinner… the reason? Everything is tasty, abundant, served with a smile and happiness, high quality and value for money.<br>I wore my best southern Italian smile and went in without booking while the place seemed to have a million people inside… it is a big place but still it looked filled to the brim with at least 20 servers flying around the tables. The metre, a genuine old fashion guy from southern Italy, welcomed us and immediately found us a table in the main restaurant ( there are 3 massive sides including one downstairs) as if by magic.<br>The menu is quite large with many dishes and deals to make anyone happy including vegans and people with allergies.<br>As usual, We had one set menu, one a la carte and some bambino items for our little daughter. We were impressed by the genuine and wholesome way everything was prepared and flavoured.<br>It reminded me of rural trattorie in the Tuscany countryside. There are numerous dishes which were truly worth having seconds and triples even. The melanzane for example or the squid rings all melted in your mouth and you cannot stop wanting more. Pizzas are a big part of the menu and are also very good, same great cooking skills but I, being a fanatic of wood fired ovens, cannot give full marks for a gas fired one, this is what they have but I must say they make the best of it.<br>Pastas are also very tasty and abundant with even my wife and daughter extremely satisfied by them.<br>The vast selection of antipasti,wines and beers, incredible gelato and cakes tops it all off.<br>One slightly less positive note is the bread, any born and bred Italian will tell you that bread is a very important component of meals in italy but here it seems little effort has been put in choosing a proper, crusty, flavoursome, smooth one. If you ask, they bring you an English style soft short baguette which tastes like nothing, it is stringy and chewy. With France literally a stone’s throw it is “incroyable” to think they could not do better than that.<br>Price wise we are a long way from London and it’s prices and still somehow we are not used to pay so little for so much, we went again the following day for lunch and either time we did not spend more than 55 quid for the 3 of us, including wine ( I was not driving yeeee!) birthday cake ( little one’s) and all full three courses.<br>A wholesome and happy place to spend a few meals eating proper Italian food, highly recommended.

Very helpful and friendly staff,delicious food. We both had the set menu, which was excellent value. I use a mobility scooter, which I was able to take in the restaurant. Really popular restaurant, would book to make sure to get a table.

This is a great, classic restaurant. I've always had great pizza here, and at a great price. The staff are always polite and helpful. It's got a vibe that maybe isn't considered trendy but man the food is what a restaurant is about. And to be honest it's nice just eating like people did in the good ol' day. Apart from the Italians, a lot modern pizza places charge a crapton for some invention they think is great and do you want to be served by a fat tattooed hippy with a hat with progfolk blaring in the background. Don't mess with a mans/woman's pizza, leave the lemon truffle drizzle at home.

The food was delicious and big portions, the service was fast and efficient, the atmosphere was happy and welcoming and the bill was was reasonable.<br>I have nothing to complain about and only praise for this restaurant, it was a really lovely experience so thank you all.<br>This place is busy with tourists and locals so I suggest booking a table in advance if possible.

Highly recommend.<br>I have been coming here for 20 years, food is always delicious, always good price.<br>Wide choice of menu.<br>The staff make this place special as they are all very friendly, attentive and work very hard.<br>Don't hesitate if you haven't been before.

Nice touch with being greeted by the manager/owner, makes you feel like you are seeing an old friend. A very good choice of food for starters, mains and deserts. All very tasty. Good and quick service, considering it was a Saturday evening, they are superb in rearranging and setting the tables. There was a delay with our desert, apparently some misunderstanding in the kitchens. Also a longish wait for someone to deal with the payment, but a lady at the counter took care of it. It was very noisy though but I suppose this is not the staff's fault. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Lovely food, great value

We had a lovely meal here after watching the Eastbourne airshow on a Saturday evening. We booked a table for four people at 1800 hours but arrived 30 minutes early as the airshow finished earlier than expected. There was a queue of people waiting to enter all with the same idea no doubt. We were quickly seated and ordered drinks. Service was speedy & efficient. Staff were numerous and attentive. Food was lovely and was well presented. We only had a main course plus drinks & the bill came to £90.00. Very nice atmosphere and very busy which is a good sign. Will visit again when next in Eastbourne.
