The previous reviews of this restaurant were given to us by customers of Belle Tout Lighthouse which we have previously recommended as exceptional value for money. We have also recommended the Thai restaurant in East Dean as outstanding.
We can now add the La Locanda Del Duca as a place not to be missed in the Eastbourne area. An exceptional range of Italian food, well cooked and presented with caring, polite and friendly staff.
The evening out was of the same high quality as the Lighthouse. We look forward to going back on our next visit in September.

Chose this restaurant off the tripadvisor list, and was not disappointed. We went on a Saturday night and didn't have a reservation, but they quickly found us a table anyways even though the restaurant was very busy. Service was quick and professional, food was delicious, nice and hot and fresh tasting, and having the complimentary bread, olives and liqueur with our coffee was a really nice treat. Pasta and risotto prices were good. Appetizers, meat and fish dishes were a little high we thought but the portions were good.
Would keep this place for special occasions, but would definitely go again.Enjoy!

Have eaten here a couple of times and food is always consistent, fresh and good. It is not a budget restaurant (they own next door for cheaper italian food) or a chain. The owner is always in there greeting guests and is a big part of the local community.
We popped by around 6.30pm on a Friday night and were lucky to get a table as nearly all the tables were full so would recommend booking if visiting at the weekend. Service is very attentive and good but not intrusive. It is one of the more expensive restaurants however there is always a set menu with several choices with 3 courses under £20 which offers very good food.
We will be back

We decided to visit La Locanda Del Duca as we have had some nice pizzas at their 'sister' restaurant Pomodoro e Mozzarella. Sadly we were disappointed. It was a busy Saturday night, and I must say that the service was very good (near excellent), but the food was disappointing. My partner's pasta main course was dry and mine had very few 'special' ingredients and tasted a bit manufactured. The starters were quite expensive for what they were. We won't be going back to La Locanda for pasta - although it is a chain, the Eastbourne Prezzo food tastes much better.

Staying in Eastbourne on business for a couple of nights and after checking Tripadvisor, visited this place and definitely wasnt disappointed.
Only about 8 people in on a Tuesday night so quiet but i think regardless, the service would be of the same high attentive standard regardless of numbers. I was given a few pieces of bread and some tasty olives while ordering and went for the Tortellini with ricotta cheese and spinach/mushrooms.
This arrived promptly and was gorgeous - creamy and very flavoursome. I followed this with three homemade ice creams with a choice of about 8 to pick from - again very nice
On paying the bill i was given a leaflet with 10% off for a meal till the middle of January so i may take trip there tomorrow as well and make sure this really was as good as i thought it was!

4 of us ate there last night. Lovely ambience, very warm welcome and very friendly and attentive staff. All four meals were first class and we didn't feel the dishes overall were that expensive, The meats/chicken were all tender and very tasty as was the accompanying selection of vegetables. All in all a lovely evening, it was our first visit but certainly wont be our last.

Food was very average and prices were jigher than expected. London prices for an average food to be honest so value for money is not great. The only reason why I rate this as a 3 rather than less is because of their very friendly staff.

Im a lover of Rissoto and they won hand's down. For main course, friends had mixture of starters which they all said were very good. As this is my review I would be able to say Presentation of food was excellent. Hot and speedy presentation.

A warm welcome is guaranteed here! It is a simply beautiful little restaurant, with fantastic Italian food and service. It is cozy, comfortable and a great place for a romantic or special occasion. The menu is large and varied, as is the wine list. If you are very lucky you could book in for an opera lunch or evening. You will leave this restaurant feeling warm, relaxed and satisfied, one of the best restaurants in Eastbourne.

We went to the Locanda Del Duca last week with friends for a Christmas treat - and what a treat it was! We all chose from the varied Christmas menu and enjoyed very tasty starters, mains and desserts. The sauces with the mains were particularly delicious and the vegetables excellent.
The service was very friendly and efficient and we were even treated to a complimentary liqueur with our coffees. Top marks too for value for money. We would have no hesitation in recommending this delightful family-run restaurant to anyone.

The food is the important thing in this restaurant and that is as it should be. Every dish was well cooked and presented. We will visit again but we will ask for corner table as the buzzy atmosphere means a quiet romantic meal needs working at. Staff are professional and friendly so we will be back, maybe mid week if it is just the two of us, any time with a group would be good.

I've walked past the restaurant on a few occasions but had never thought to dine there until I recently saw the reviews on tripadvisor.
We dined on Sunday evening, celebrating mum-in-law's birthday, and I believe all 5 of us really enjoyed our meal.
The warm and welcome greeting from the staff was genuine and professional. The venue was spotless. The menu is extensive and good value. The wines (we tried a good selection between us) were very decent. The food was superb...the best steak I've had in a long time...with fresh ingredients, care and attention, and reasonably sized portions. Service remained attentive and friendly throughout the meal.
I've heard others talk about this place as being expensive but I do not agree. I understand that there's always a set menu option (which is in-line with the chain restaurants that Eastbourne has to offer), and even if you stray into the other menu pages, you'll find the prices comparable with other Italian eateries but the quality is worth so much more. I'm a regular diner in London and I can safely say that this restaurant is reasonably priced for Eastbourne.
I fully expect that our positive experience is indicative of every night at the restaurant, rather than a fluke, and so we will be back to confirm my suspicions and to try the other wonderful sounding dishes.

Service friendly and speedy, but you don't feel rushed. Food quality consistent and good. I always look forward to and enjoy my meal at this restaurant. Staff very happy for sharing of puds and provide two plates with half a pud on each. We were given free and welcome liquers to end another lovely eating experience.

Ate here on family visit and found it a classy place all round. Food was very good, particularly the desserts, and service was attentive (it was early on a Sunday night, so not very many diners at that stage). Liked the comfortable and quiet atmosphere too. Felt the prices were a little on the high side, but I guess you get what you pay for!

We had visited the sister restaurant before and enjoyed our meal so thought we would try La Locanda Del Duca for an evening meal. As my father is an Italian chef we are rather spoiled and usually disappointed with italian restaurants but we were visiting the area and the menu looked good. We ended up having a lovely meal, the owner was Italian and did the traditional tour of the restaurant talking o his guests which we always like. They were very patient with us asking for a decent break between pauses and we even got treated to a complimentary liquor. Would definitely go back. Thank you.

Walked in on a Saturday night without a reservation and was able to secure a seat. I don't recommend this, I think we were just lucky. We walked by many other restaurants on the way and none were close to as packed as the La Locanda. Had a minestrone soup to start that was a large portion and was delicious. My main was a vegetable ravioli that was again delicious. If you like Italian food and are in Eastbourne this place is not to be missed!

We were invited by overseas guests to choose a restaurant and were delighted both for them and us at our choice. Good service and surroundings. The food was both well cooked and presented and our wines were excellent. Well done again La Locanda

Service in this authentic italian restaurant is excellent even when the place is very busy, which it is most of the time. The food is delicious and there is a good choice of all the usual italian favourites. There is a fixed price menu as well as a la carte but this is not a budget restaurant. A good place for a party or celebration.

We were staying in Eastbourne and wanted a restaurant close to our hotel for the Friday night we arrived. I had looked at the reviews and decided to book. When we arrived the restuarant was very busy. The food was good, and the service we received was also very good. With wine the meal was very reasonably priced. Our desert which we shared was a cold crepe which was absolutely delicious. Good food, great atmosphere, and good service.
