The best Italian restaurant we have been to for a long time, superb food beautifully presented in clean and pleasant premises, the service was friendly and efficient without being too fussy, Nell was our waitress and she was a delight. My wife ordered Sea Bass it came with a delicious creamy saffron sauce, I had fillet steak which was cooked medium, as requested, and was really tender. This is our fourth visit to this establishment and is now firmly part of our Eastbourne experience. A REAL TREAT.

Staff very helpful and friendly. Starter of prawn cocktail huge but tasteless. Excellent wines. Main courses ranged from good to average. Steak was good, sea bass good, liver adequate. vegetables horribly bland.

Went here for dinner on our first night in Eastbourne. Got there a tad early (5pm) but they were happy to let us in early for dinner. Staff were very welcoming and friendly which is always a plus. We had the Chianti Classico which was quite delicious, followed by a shared starter of mussels which were excellent. For mains my wife had the spaghetti with clams and I had the gorgonzola gnocchi. Really enjoyed both dishes, the spaghetti was much lighter and tasty, and the gnocchi was as expected. I would rate 3.5 if that were an option as the overall experience was really enjoyable and I would visit again if back in Eastbourne.

My husband and I went to La Locanda for the first time and it was the most amazing evening. The waiting staff work really hard and nothing is too much trouble. They are extremely attentive without being intrusive and the food was absolutely top notch. We were extremely impressed and will definitely be dining there again.

I'm just from the restaurant and I can't find enough words to praise this place. The service was very friendly, fast and efficient, despite the busy time of Sat. evening. All dishes we tried from the Set menu was delicious, especially Scottish salmon and incredible pears in red wine with mouth watering cinnamon ice cream. The overal atmosphere also very good. But what really makes La Locanda a unique rest. is the combination of value and quality which hardly to be beaten. I was ready to pay double or triple price for the dinner we have - very tasty and pleasant. A+ and big respect to the owners of the place.

The waiting staff are friendly and attentive but not intrusive and the service is excellent. The atmosphere is really nice and we went on a hot summer evening and the ceiling fans kept the place at an ideal temperature. The food was the best Italian I've had outside of Italy (and actually better than some Italian experiences!) The set menu is very good value and a good choice. The full menu is extensive, plenty of choice, although if you want pizza I think you need to go to their other restaurant next door. The only thing I wasn't convinced about was the gelato, I may be wrong but it didn't taste scratch made, it wasn't bad but just not as amazing as the starters and mains. Definitely my favourite restaurant in Eastbourne. Love it.

Having taken the advice of tripadvisor and the reviews posted under this restaurant we couldn’t have been better rewarded than the service and meal we received on our recent visit. For a Tuesday evening the place was packed. Despite being busy the service was first class and very warm and friendly.
The food we ordered was first class with the mussels a real treat. We liked it so much that we managed a quick lunch the next day before heading back home. If you are in Eastbourne then have at least one meal here.

Visited on a busy Saturday night having booked two days before. Food was as delicious as we remembered from our previous visit to Eastbourne. Would not eat anywhere else on a weekend break. Great atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff and great food. Very good value.

I took my husband to Eastbourne for a long weekend birthday treat. Booked this restaurant for Saturday 20th July as I had read good reviews on Trip Advisor. Certainly not disappointed. Very nice staff. Great service and the food was mouth watering excellent. The restaurant was very busy all evening and they were turning lots of people away who I guess hadn't booked. If you eat here you'll not be sorry but you have to book well ahead. My one hesitation was the fact that as they were so busy we felt somewhat rushed to finish our meal and then vacate the table. Would still recommend it.

Visited on a sat night,would definitely advise booking in advance.Five in our party,we chose the set dinner menu,each course was lovely.only criticism would be we felt a bit rushed,but we asked if we could have a break after our starter which they were happy to oblige.Would definitely return if I was visiting Eastbourne again.

This restaurant is a little gem. Everything is authentic Italian, from the food to the staff and the ambiance. We had a table at 9pm on a Saturday evening and the place was packed and lively but the service was still friendly and more than adequately fast. The food was delicious and fairly priced as was the wine list. If we lived in Eastbourne this'd would be our regular place to eat. Brilliant!

I was returning to Eastbourne for a memorial service - the hotel I was staying in had a limited menu
so I popped in to ask if they could find me a table on a Saturday evening - they indicated it would only be possible at 9pm and were concerned that I might think that too late but that was fine.
When I arrived later the restaurant was buzzing and I was soon given my table, the service was outstanding with everyone looking after me and the food was excellent as was the bottle of Barolo!They could not have been nicer and the food as I say was well prepared and the steak exquisite. I cannot recommend them more highly. Thank You!

In my "gourmet" tour of Eastbourne restaurants this was , and has been, one of my favourites. No problem that you are solo and no seat stuck in a corner. The service is immaculate and friendly( not to mention very honest when I gave the waitress far too much money). The minestrone is to die for and the spaghetti vongole exactly as I anticipated. The generous glass of desert wine was a nice gesture and much appreciated after the sensational Italian ice cream. A very nice experience.

Just returned after an evening meal here. Had the set menu. Starter, main & sweet. I had 1/2 bottle of house white, hubby had the 2 beers. The whole meal was great, fresh veg, lovely sauces. Service was great. Cost £67 including a tip. Thanks

The first time went there was very good it was a week day the service was excellent and food was very good ,it got a very good menu and price is very reasonable ,the 2nd time we went on a Saturday food was still very good but the service was not as good because they were very busy ,but will still go there but not on a Saturday Ian brighton

The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent.

My first visit to this resturant and very pleased with the menu. The prices were reasonable,and the food portions good. The staff were most helpful. The resturant was full and I reccommend you book a table before visiting it.

In an age when Strada and Prezzo are supposed to represent Italian food in the Uk, it was reassuring to find this place...the sort of restaurant that seem to have died out. The food was excellent, whitebait, Parma ham, scallops, veal...real Italian flavours and atmosphere. Not cheap, but good value all the same. and he service was very good, too. Highly recommended!

OK I've only been to two others but I love Italian food and this is very very good. It's quite a large restaurant but the service is very attentive, the presentation is excellent and as I already said the food is absolutely spot on.

Nice welcome, great food, Lovely atmosphere. The calves liver was exquisite and they cooked my wife a wonderful Carbonara, even though it wasn't on the menu.

First visit to this restaurant, went with friends; had to book well in advance and the place was full on the Saturday evening. Set menu or a la carte. The rack of lamb was superb ad the tiramisu was up there with the best, (but not yet as good as my sister-in-law's!) Good wine list, excellent staff, good atmosphere. Highly recommended.
