We found this by chance while looking for somewhere to eat on our holiday in Eastbourne, they were very very busy but we were early so managed to get in. A really nice place with good food and service. Complimentary olives on the table and a good basket of bread while we looked at the menu. A good menu with lots of choices so something to suit everyone. We enjoyed our meal very much and would like to visit again if our time left in Eastbourne on holiday allows us to.

The best Italian meal I've had in ages. I had zucchini to start and it was amazing and with a wonderful fresh tomato and basil sauce. I had chicken and artichoke pasta as a main which was full of flavour and delicious. Then caramel panacota which was scrummy. It was my friends birthday and all the staff sang happy birthday and gave her a free dessert with a candle in and a birthday card! She was thrilled. The staff were very friendly and attentive without intruding and we really enjoyed our meal. They also gave us complimentary frozen lemoncellos after the meal which were delicious. Just wish we lived nearer so we could visit more often!

This is my third review. We are in Eastbourne twice each year and have been eating here for years. The staff are fantastic and we really like them. This restaurant is certainly one of the very best in Eastbourne. The atmosphere is lovely. We always get a great welcome with kisses and hugs. The food is well prepared and the service is first class. It's well worth a visit.

Just spent a very pleasant evening at this restaurant with my friend. Our food was fresh, hot and delicious. The staff were friendly and the service was good. We felt our bill to be reasonable and if we didn't live over 200 miles away would visit again!

The restaurant was recommended by The Grand Hotel so we were expecting something fairly good. We booked a table for a Wednesday evening and arrived to find it nearly full which tended to support the hotel’s recommendation.
It was a very warm evening so I had a couple of bottles of Peroni (they don’t do pints) and my wife had a Mojito cocktail which is one of her favourites and she tells me it was done very well.
My wife’s starter was Minestrone soup which she assures me was quite superb; I had Mozzarella tricolore (tomato, mozzarella and avocado salad) which was excellent. The Monzarella was excellent quality, moist and tasty.
For the main courses, my wife had Petto di pollo ai funghi (pan-fried chicken breast with mushroom and white wine sauce) which was superb; I went for the Ravioli di carne alla crema di porcini (meat ravioli with a wild mushroom and cream sauce) which was equally excellent. The pasta tasted fresh and home made
Food was washed down with an excellent bottle of Orvieto followed by fresh coffee
The whole meal was under £77 which for such good quality, is very good value for money
All in all, an excellent meal and very good service. We’ll be back.

Been here several times now and can't fault either the food or the service.
It's a little quieter than their sister restaurant next door.

We went as a last minute shall we eat out and a booking was accommodate that day. Food quality is excellent, my husband had sardines to start which were well cooked and presented and were very tasty. I had the sea bass for main which was again beautifully cooked and generously portioned. Perhaps my only criticism was that the service was very quick, a little longer to digest and deliberate over the menu would have been preferred, but in fairness we could have controlled that. A very lovely impromptu supper was had and would thoroughly recommend as a good restaurant with plenty of atmosphere

I've visited this restaurant many times over the past twenty-odd years. It has always been an excellent place to eat. The table linen and cutlery are excellent; the staff
has inevitably changed over the years but none of them has failed to live up to the high standards expected by discerning customers and the charming proprietor. Needless to say the food is always of the highest quality and prices are very reasonable. I recently took some friends for lunch. As they are more or less newcomers to Eastbourne this was their initial visit. They were delighted and since then they have paid several follow-up visits. They love La Locanda and so do I.

The staff here were really accommodating. So much that they brought a pizza from their sister restaurant a few doors along. Great food too. When we visited they were refurbing the outside so there was no signage and we could have missed it - glad we didn't.

This restaurant is not the cheapest, but is the best Italian restaurant in Eastbourne, in my opinion. This is due to the choice, food and service, which are superior to it's competitors. Would certainly recommend it!

My wife and I visited Eastbourne for our wedding anniversary and found this restaurant on trip advisor. After some homework we decided on this gem.
The service is impeccable, the food outstanding, very wide range of wines. The decor is very tidy . Chairs very comfortable, and tables dressed immaculate. I can't praise this enough . We would definitely recommend and be back.
The prices are very reasonable. The portion sizes are perfect . Definitely worth a visit. 5 stars
We are from London and have eaten at the ritz and savoy and we were more than pleased with this restaurant.

6 of us went for a meal here. The food, atmosphere, staff and setting was excellent. A really lovely evening out. Quite expensive but we had a 10% discount voucher which reduced the bill by £21. Would definitely go again when next in Eastbourne.

Decent food that is good value, but not the most authentic Italian and made to a price

We ate here after the Eastbourne Air Show and the restaurant was very busy with the influx of people but the staff were extremely competent as well as helpful, and our waitress was charming and chatty without being intrusive.
The food was very good and we all enjoyed our choice of meal. There were two or three sittings on various tables but at no time were we made to feel we should leave to make space. Prices were reasonable and we would happily visit again.

Really good food and very good service in this restaurant.
Staters and mains were generous sized portions but did think the deserts were overpriced. My son had profiteroles - there were just 3!!!! Can't remember the exact price but was over £5. We shall go again but probably stick to just a main course.

We booked this restaurant as it had been recommended. It did not disappoint. The welcome we received set the tone for the whole night. It was very busy and although we did wait a bit for our main, it was not excessive. The staff are delightful and happy which is infectious. A GSH too, suggesting our wine was evaporating in the heat! Our food was delicious and we all had different dishes. We would definitely return.

Ate twice here recently. It's so good make sure you phone ahead to book. There is a set menu with several delicious choices or you can eat a la carte. First time I had Parma Ham & Melon, Calves Liver, and Coffee Ice Cream off the set menu, My wife ate a la carte with grilled Goat's cheese with Figs and Candied Walnuts, followed by the tastiest Salmon I have ever tasted. I also had a 1/2 portion of Pasta a la Chef which was delicious. On the second visit I tried the a la carte Lobster which had the best sauce (including Black Truffles) I have ever tasted. The wine list is very good with several wines by the glass.
A fantastic experience and we decided to go back to Eastbourne soon just so we don't have to wait a year to eat here again
