This restaurant was recommended for us by our B&B owners when we arrived down in Eastbourne and it did not disappoint. It was extremely busy but I guess to be expected during Eastbourne tennis week and we were lucky to get in on the day with a 9.00pm reservation.
The mains we went for were the Fegato alla veneziana and the Tagliatelle ai gamberoni and both were excellent and with attentive service levels, especially when considering how busy the restaurant was, this was a great start to our break in Eastbourne.

Invited to share a birthday celebration with friends, had not been to this restaurant before so did not know what to expect. Friendly greeting by staff and quickly seated and supplied with menus. In spite of being mid-week it was very busy and lively a great cheerful atmosphere.
An extremely extensive menu catering for just about every taste, between us we tried various different items on the menu and none of us was disappointed, in addition there is a good selection on the children's menu which pleased the youngest member of our party !The food was well cooked and served promptly which was a good effort seeing how busy they were, we were all pleased with the quality and the service, plus the price was very fair for the standard of the food.
This is one restaurant on the visit again list, there is on street parking just outside and if you arrive after 6pm it is free but not all that expensive before then.

When a restaurant serves good steak, it is an amazing restaurant! We had a steak and and pasta for main. Steak was beautifully cooked - crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Apple strudels and the pancakes were also good.

We chose this restaurant for dinner on our wedding anniversary because of the excellent trip advisor reviews and the strong recommendation from our hotel. Our waiter was businesslike and efficient and neither particularly friendly nor unfriendly ( though we noticed he was extremely friendly to some other diners, perhaps because they may have been regulars). The red wine was fine. We both had the pork medallions as the main course. We were each given four pieces of pork which we both found to be non-tender, chewy and tasteless. The vegetable portions given to us both were barely adequate in size for even one person though they were certainly well cooked. One of us actually left behind some of the pork which is highly unusual for us. When another waiter asked us how we found the meal we politely told her why we found the pork medallions poor for the reasons given above, and she politely thanked us for our feedback and honesty. We realise we may just have chosen badly and that had we ordered a different main course then our impression of this restaurant may well have been different and much more positive. However, this is what we chose and for this reason we do not feel able either to return there or recommend it to others. This is a pity as we are sure this restaurant is capable of doing much better than this.

Tables are very close together, OK, it was the holiday season, so it might not be like that all year. Every single person who went by my chair managed to kick it. Not easy to have a private conversation as other diners are too near. Vegetables are served on side dishes, but the table are so small that it would be better to serve them plated.
On the plus side, service was very quick. The bread basket has 4 different varieties, our favourite being the rosemary focaccia. They are give you a complementary sorbet at the end of your meal.We both had fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection..

We had diner for two consecutive days and we very much enjoyed it. Great food in a typical Italian atmosphere. The staff was thoughtful and provided great service. The senior waiter was very entertaining and was able to add something and elevated it to a memorable evening. A real professional.
All would not be of importance if the food wouldn’t be up to standard, but it was. If you enjoy the Italian kitchen you should definitely visit this restaurant.

This still is possibly the best restaurant in Eastbourne. Amazing service great welcome excellent menu range really good wine list and prices that are not over the top.<br><br>I have been going to this restaurant ever since in opened in early year of 2000 , sadly I am unable to go as often now as I used too so an opportunity to go there for Sunday lunch was relished in all ways<br><br>They deserve every success it's nice just to know this isa place ou can rely on and recommend people too ....well done to the whole team that make it work so well

Faultless. From booking to arrival, everyone is so pleasant. Staff are attentive & very thorough - they even have a laugh with you ! The restaurant itself has a warm atmosphere & every item of food we ate was delicious. A real Italian place to dine that will not disappoint & do try their Sicilian red wine - mouthwatering......................

Four of us went for dinner after the tennis tournament - an easy walk. We were made welcome and were not kept waiting for food or drink. Everything was well presented and the restaurant is easy and spacious. Very predictable menu, quite 1980's: you might even think La Locanda was part of a chain!

Lovely food, great service, even changing a bottle of wine which we ordered but didn't like. Replaced it with another with no charge, after letting us have a glass to try it! Superb customer service! Attentive and helpful. Food was delicious and plentiful. Thoroughly recommend eating here.m

A friend had been to this restaurant a few years ago and invited me to have lunch there in June , There are tablecloths and flowers on the tables and the restauant is clean and well managed , on our visit the owner visited every table to ask the customers if they were having a nice meal , The food is good mussels Mariiniere are delicious so in the lobster spaghetti , they did however serve the oddest Expresso Martini I had ever tasted so I tend to think cocktails is not their speciality .

For the third year running I have phoned to book a table - it does not accept web booking. Each year when we arrive they cannot find our names and after much hesitation give us a table in the back part of the restaurant. It is only because the food is so delicious that we return.
