It was absolutely beautiful with a great little forest beside it, also a big green area for a picnic were the kids can run freely it was amazing especially when you have kids like mine who have autism and love to be born free in a way and be able to run without fear of being next to a main road, any parent will love this and I think every parent should definitely take the kids here.

Excellent. The castle really is a hidden gem. Be aware that internal viewing must be booked in advance and is by guided tour only but even if you just visit the grounds then it is still a great day out. Buy a combined ticket to the science centre, it's great. Fantastic for all ages - even the inbetweeners who are too old for animal parks and too young for theme parks. Not crowded either.

Lovely grounds and when we were there there was lots going on- Knights in armour, car show... We did only have a walk around the grounds which were lovely. However the guys on the entrance gate need some training. There was a huge queue because for every car he had to run back to his hut for change and a leaflet. Someone give him a money belt!

Lovely place to visit, plenty to see and lovely walks, if you're lucky you might spot a peacock in a tree. Went for my birthday and would love to visit again.

Lovely gardens, very well maintained shame we did not see the shy peacocks. Delicious gluten free coffee cake little pricey but nice surroundings and nice crockery.

Nice large open space with a picturesque old house in the middle. Had a good time walking about with the dog, admiring the mini gardens near the house, and in the larger grounds themselves. Nice cake and tea from the tea room. Heard peacocks but failed to see any. Would return, if only to find the elusive fowl!

Now home to the Bader Centre for International Studies, a wing of Queen's University Ontario, it's hard to imagine a more idyllic place to study than Herstmonceux Castle. Begin in 1440, dismantled in 1770, and spectacularly renovated from ruin in the early twentieth-century, the Castle is a vision of a dream, surrounded on two sides by reflecting lilly ponds and on the others by expansive forests, manicured gardens with herbs, butterflies, peacocks and intimate statues. It ought to be one of the most famous buildings in England: the fact that it isn't mean visitors can often enjoy it in relative peace.
