Its golden onion domes hint at its former glory. It appears to be under refurbishment in parts but it has a long way to go yet.
Whoever is managing the pier really needs to fired.
Most areas look as if they have been left to rot. Avoid going to the end of the pier as it is shockingly under used apart from a couple of guys fishing and beer drinking and their handwritten note warning you of a £5 fine if you litter in their area!...It is such a shame and a waste of what could be a great asset to Eastbourne. The local council should hang their head in shame along with the many seafront hotels who aren't even bothered to repair or paint their hotels.

Not a lot going on on the pier atm which is a shame as its a great venue.
It has been nicely refurbished though and I look forward to seeing different options open up very soon.

In need of some loving TLC really. Bins were over flowing and paint peeling off the benches when we visited a couple if days ago. Several places to eat and a bar. A large section in the middle appeared to being renovated. Fish and chop shop had a vegan menu! Interesting to see. We did not have any chips so cannot comment.

No charge to go on the pier which was good, and no entrance or exit via a shop or arcade.

A lovely spot with some traditional pier entertainment and stalls but the gold is tacky and does not suit the era or the setting, but that is probably my view. Work is underway at the moment which makes part of it inaccessible. Despite my concerns with the gold it is great to see it back in operation after the fire that destroyed it.

Lots to do and see, arcade rooms, a wonderful sweet shop, various touristy shops, the Victorian tea rooms are a must if you are visiting and the pier donuts are second to none!
