Nothing much going on with the replacement of the main amusement hall, not so good for taking families with young children. What on earth have Lions got to do with the pier?

So enjoyed my saunter down to the end of the pier even though it was closed off for safety reasons. It was so blowy, great for getting rid of the cobwebs. Fantastic renovation great addition to the promenade.

Красивое место. Менее загружено посетителями и не такое развлекательное по сравнению с Брайтоном.

just a walk round on a blustery February day nice just to do something simple on a mid week day off.
watch were you park was my only observation as we did see parking people on the prowl checking tickets.
we used the Trinity multi storey carpark approx 10 minute walk away.

Mixed views thus far and I fear this is not going to be one for traditionalists. New owners whilst clearly investing in renovations and development are reportedly no loner going to allow fishing and not renewing a number of other licenses. I was unable to discover what the mid to long term plans are but they do not seem to include a traditional pier, for better or worse.

Always a great pier, just a pity that the fire caused so much damage and the repair is taking so long.

The land end of the pier has been reconstructed but it seems that they have not replaced many of the kiosks.
That said, it was great for a bracing January walk in the sleet along the pier.

I have known the pier since childhood and always loved visiting it. The fire was a real tragedy and I hope it will be restored to its former glory and that the end of the pier theatre will be regenerated. It is good to see fishermen and families using the pier.

Since the fire and coming into new ownership, the pier has started to regain its appearance. A great pier with exceptional views of the town and good places to eat and drink.

As someone who worked on the renovation of the pier after the fire, I'm amazed and stupified by the amount of congratulatory posts saying well done to the Council for renovating the pier! The pier is (and always will be) privately owned and all renovation and reconstruction was carried out by a specialist private company. Those guys in the orange boiler suits who put their lives on the line in adverse weather conditions are the ones who should be congratulated for their work - not the council!!!

I was on this pier three days before it burnt down. Despite losing a part of history with the dome now gone, I prefer the new look. No big electronic amusement arcade and a clean and restored Victorian pier. Well done Eastbourne.

They've done a great job with the restoration, so looks really original. There were great views and the shops and cafes were really nice.

Love to watch the fishermen fish at the end of the pier. You can hire a fishing rod there too. So pleased they did not close the pier after the fire, which destroyed the big arcade. There are a couple of shops still open there but closed when we went early January. There is also a lovely tea shop and clubhouse bar on the pier. At the entrance there is a fish and chip shop which we have been told sells the best fish and chips in Eastbourne. Haven't tried them so can't confirm that.

A typical seaside pier such a shame that it is very quiet with not a lot open in January. You would not know there had been a fire recently

Been coming on here since I was a small boy, still enjoy a stroll in all weather's it has great coastal views. Badly needs a revamp and the Blue Room rebuilt. Not much for families now. Don't ruin it though Mr Gulzar!

Recently visited Eastbourne and just had to go on the Pier despite the strong winds that were blowing. Enjoyed a stroll around the Pier. Naturally not much was open as it was January. I can imagine how busy it gets in Summer. We did enjoy afternoon tea in the Cafe mid pier. Lovely scone & pot of tea (loose leaf too!). Would recommend a stop in there when visiting the pier.

Enjoyed a stroll by day, and later by night. Well worth a visit. Just a shame several of the units are closed or limited hours in January.
Fishing off the end of the pier carries on day and night though, if you want to escape from it all.

Any pier is great in my book.
Even in chilly January. One can stroll out and enjoy the view of the seafront and along the coast.
Tea in the Victorian tea rooms with the lovely chandelier sparkling as the sun goes down. Enjoy.

The pier is under a little bit of restoration at the moment due to it being on fire a couple of years ago .but you wouldn't know that looking at it now.

A lot of repairs have been carried out since the fire of 2014, still some way to go as there is now the nice new wooden floor in place but just a large open space where the amusements and shops were prior to the fire. Currently not a great deal to do when visiting the pier.

I was born in Eastbourne and spent far too many hours on this fantastic structure which was so devastated by fire in 2014.
Just returned for a visit and was sad to see that the repair works appear to be finished which is just to repair/replace the pier decking. The huge main structure built by the Victorians with some fine ironwork has completely gone and been replaced with..........nothing!!
I see that the new owner (since the fire) a sheikh, who is a local hotelier too, invests some more to replace the building lost. The pier is so iconic of Eastbourne and been used in many films including Brighton Rock (It was deemed a better structure than Brighton Pier!!).
Bracing walk to the end is still worth it though just for the views of the seafront

I was born and grew up in Eastbourne. Knew the pier well of course. And danced in the ballroom in my teens.
I now live in Lower Willingdon and like to visit the seafront and the pier. I'm delighted by the way that the new owner has got it tidied up, and is already having it painted and freshened up. It is now a better experience to walk on the pier because of this. And I agree with another reviewer that the open space is attractive in itself. So perhaps even leave it as it is!
More on the clean up. Is it possible to clean the roofs? I know this would be very expensive, but I think it would transform the view of the pier from the seafront. Just image it standing out, shining in the sun!
I would like to say something about the Victorian Tea Room. I had never been in before. But just before Christmas my cousin and I visited there and were very impressed. We had an excellent Sussex Cream tea, elegantly served, and at a reasonable price. The tea room is delightful. And the panoramic views of the sea and seafront are wonderful. I have since visited several times during my walks on the seafront.
I think that maybe the installation of a modern coffee machine to serve the finest coffees might be a good addition to this lovely tearoom.

It's a great shame that this pier no longer belongs to the city of Eastbourne and has been renamed Sheik's Pier. The new owner will soon charge an admission fee and exclude fishermen from the pier.
