We decided to have a wander along Eastbourne Pier when on an overnight stay. As we entered we expected to see a kiosk asking for payment, but no, we walked onto a beautifully renovated pier with what looked like a wonderful cafe in the middle. At the end was a lovely building for wedding receptions, etc. A truly lovely old fashioned pier, how splendid.

Walked along the pier in mid afternoon. Not much was open and the weather was cloudy and windy. Nice walk and a great view of the Eastbourne beaches and surrounding area.

Normally these piers are old or very tacky. This one was actually very well done, granted that it is fairly new. Great walk along the esplanade and on to the pier giving good views back along the coast

Disappointed that there are no slot machines on the pier. I thought every pier had amusement arcades on them.

What a delight it is to walk along our newly refurbished Pier after the dreadful fire of May 2014. Sheikh Abid Gulzar and his team have done wonders to restore the sad burnt parts of the Pier and turn it into a very elegant place to walk and breathe in the fresh sea air of Eastbourne. The Victorian tea-room is a lovely place for a refreshment tea/coffee etc. The chosen colour for the Pier of blue and white (and gold!) are perfect. Thank you Mr Gulzar for re-awakening this unique facility for Eastbourne.

Great that our pier has been rebuilt after the tragic fire, but it is just a big empty space with a few of the original shops and the Victorian tea rooms. Not even sure if the Camera Obscura is open anymore. Also heard rumours that there may be a charge to go on it in the future.

Lovely old looking Pier but unfortunately needs a facelift now especially as Hastings has just opened their new Pier which is starting to look very nice.

Visited Eastbourne pier in May weather was dry although a little breezy especially on the pier. Not many facilities on the pier just 1 shop ( holiday trinkets) 1 glass blowing shop, Victorian tea room, fish and chips and very bizarre but a night club right on the end ( very out of character for this type of pier) there is also an empty unit which advertises an amusement coming soon, plenty of benches and seating along the pier. The pier is currently undergoing a restoration so areas cornered off and workmen busy. Looking a bit sad and tired in places with lots of rusting hence the restoration. Well worth a visit for the history alone, would love to visit again and see its new facelift.

ge the unique feel of an older pier with still original gastfitted lamps seen , ornamental cast iron mesh fittings and rims , freshly painted buildings and sturdy decking , look back on Eastbourne's fabulous regency style squares and enhanced seafront with upper lower promenade and restored bandstand

My wife and I are avid pier enthusiasts and were delighted to see how this pier had fared and was rising again. Truly elegant and well worth the visit. There were a variety of small shops to browse. The Victorian tea rooms looked delightful but despite the beautiful chandeliers, the youthful staff seemed reluctant to serve and I had to go to the counter, even though it was nearly empty. The loose leaf tea was a few leaves short and the capaccino tasted like instant powder, despite the small cup and £2.50 price tag. Shame, let the pier down. Obviously needs a few more attractions but it's well on its way and certainly shows Hastings what a pier should still look like!

Since the pier has been taken over by the sheikh it seems to have been modernised a lot better than by the previous owners!
Saying that, we went to the waterfront bar and the 2 bar men were absolutely useless... Seemed unable to operate the card machine... Left me waiting for 5/10 mins at the bar whilst they sorted this out.
Worth a visit, free entry, but expensive drinks.

I had a great time on the pier. Traditional fish and chips is a must. Sitting outside and hearing the waves crashing under the pier is beautiful. Beware of giant seagulls. They are huge. Do not feed them.

A nice little pier but rather unexciting. There is a lovely tea room and just before it on the left a reasonably priced gift shop. Don't go before 11 as many shops do not open until then, (this does not include the one already identified)!

Really nice pier, saw the nightclub there and it must be the best looking night club i've seen. Very scenic for a walk as well.

Check out Brighton's Pier as it is much much better and bigger.

The Pier is nice to look at but when on it there is little bar the view to keep you on it. It may suffer from being not far from Brighton pier which is far superior

Although it seems still to be in the midst of a refurb (scaffolding about the pier) what is completed is looking fresh and welcoming and one can almost feel the ladies taking a turn on the Pier...for the sea air. It makes a great stroll after a large plate of fish and chips or even ice-cream so worth it for that fact alone, but the views of the sea and coast line are spectacular from this vantage point and a couple of panoramic shots of Eastbourne taken from the pier, will be displayed for friends and family to admire.

This is a fun place to visit and we even say in the sun and had a beer from the bar right at the end of the pier. It was very uncrowded and not tacky like lots of piers are around the world.
It was very interesting to see the next morning at low tide where we walked right underneath it.

They serve ice creams of course and it gives you great views back across the town from the end of the pier.
A must do!
