A great pier

As a part of our heritage, no trip to the seaside is complete without a trip to the pier. Although part of this was destroyed by fire, there are still shops and cafes operating. A walk to the end will give a good opportunity to photo Eastbourne seafront. Chips, ice cream and candy floss keep the seaside traditions alive.

Had a walk along the Eastbourne Pier this evening (at about 6.00 p.m.) Whilst it was nice to get a different view and perspective of the Town from the Pier, that was about all there was to do apart from a couple of Amusement Kiosks. Even the Fish and Chip Shop at the entrance to the pier was closed, and was the Tea Rooms half-way along. Overall, somewhat disappointing, but perhaps it is better earlier in the day.

It's nice for a little stroll to the end but it's not in the best condition. Lots of rubbish blowing around.

I went to the pier this evening with a hope of grabbing fish n chips which was disappointingly shut, then got turned away from walking around the end because of some band being on in the nightclub. Still a few arcades available in the evening, but no ability to get the correct change for using in all arcade machines. So overall disappointed, but pleased it's reopened.

The pier is a little shabby but personally i think it adds to the charm of its age. It has been done up but the paint job is a little sloppy on expection and i think its in need of a thorough make over. There is only one bar and in comparison to the surrounding pubs the drinks are reasonably priced. There is a chip shop and a tea room a couple of small arcades and a gift shop.. and little else. Not really one for the kids but for a relaxing stroll, beer in the sun ans stunning views its perfect.

Since the fire Eastbourne pier has been revamped. It is now a lovely place to walk along and everything is new and freshly painted. A lot better than the old pier.

Now under new ownership and nicknamed the Sheikspier!! What's not to like when walking along one of the finest piers in England.

Sehr schöner Pier. Leider kann man nicht sehr viel machen ausser Glücksspiele spielen. Wenn man in der Nähe ist sollte man ihn definitv besuchen aber ein "must-see" ist es jetzt auch nicht.

It's free to go on Eastborne's pier. It is clean and well maintained and has the usual arcades which suck up your money very quickly. There's a nice Fish & Chips at the entrance along with an Ice Cream parlour and a few yards on to the pier there is a wide area with seating and tables. There's nothing to stop you eating your own picnic either there or on the many benches further down the pier - that is if the Gulls don't swoop on you as I saw one man lose his ice cream !

There is also a popular Victorian Tea Room which is a nice place to while away the time if it's a bit blustery.

As an Eastbourne resident I watched, in horror, the pier go up in flames in Summer 2014. I believed that the only solution was to replace The Blue Room thereby restoring the pier to all its grandeur. I was wrong! The open plan pier is an absolute delight with plenty of space to enjoy the sea and town views as well as the opportunity for local events to be held there. Well worth a visit for the views alone. 😊👏👏

I think the sad event of the fire has presented an opportunity to use the large open space on the pier for activities such as open air plays (Shakespeare and other plays) in a truly atmospheric setting. Also, dances, exercise classes and other social and entertainment events.
This large open area gives magnificent views to east and west.
The pier looks nicely decorated and inviting. Having the large open space has proved to be asset.
Definitely worth a visit for the magnificent views alone.

A nice pier lots of tables for lunch. Unfortunate colour scheme. The gold looks tacky. It's a shame the fishermen aren't allowed on the pier anymore as my son used to like to go and watch and talk to them. Today the music was far too loud and made it unpleasant to sit there for long a pity on such a beautiful day.

On a cold but sunny day, Eastbourne Pier is quieter and understated compared to its cousin at Brighton, in contrast to the buzz and crowds of Brighton. However, if you want a more reflective stroll to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the sea, parking is plentiful and it costs less.

Eastbourne Pier is well maintained, unassuming and looks quite ordinary. Shops on the pier are mixed, some are interesting (e.g. glass making) whilst others, like the games arcades and food outlets, are typical of seaside towns. The local authorities are trying to refresh the town by lining the seafront with decorative flowery plants, but more can be done and I can see it is already on the way. Eastbourne and its pier have got potential.

For families with kids, there are some sandy parts of an otherwise pebbly beach. We found these spots and the kids enjoyed it. We cannot speak for summer months and weekends, but currently, weekdays are rather uneventful. Local authorities could perhaps encourage local/upcoming acts or baskers to create the right atmosphere. More decorations, greens and flowers could raise the vibrancy of the pier.

Overall, If you looking for a more relaxed environment compared to Brighton , then Eastbourne is the way to go -- this pier is a landmark that you would not want to miss.

We took a little stroll around the pier, looks like the current owner is really trying hard to improve and restore it. Nice little stroll to be had and there's amusements, tea room and shops to look at too
