This is a great place if you have young kids. Season tickets are ridiculously cheap and the railway offers really good playgrounds, a nice lakeside walk, steam train rides and a nice cafe. This place should really be on your list for places to take 2-10 year olds for an afternoon or just an hour after school.

My family and I are regular visitors to the area and every time we come our children always ask to go to Eastbourne miniature railway. They always enjoy the whole day. There always seems to be a new addition to the play area. It is well worth buying the ticket option that includes limitless train rides if your kids enjoy trains. The entry price is very good value and the cafe offers good food at reasonable prices. Fantastic day out for the whole family!

Took our grandson here today. It's an excellent place with a five-year-old, great playground, great little train ride lovely picnic area and the toilets are absolutely superb. The cleanest I have seen in this type of facility. All the staff we encountered were friendly and the cafe serves excellent food and well priced. Easy to spend a whole day here. A bargain day out.

Took the four year old grandson to this excellent attraction and found it even better than when we had visited with his sister four years ago. The Wadey family really do try to maintain very high standards and don't skimp on quality equipment. Good picnic facilities in a great setting, a wide range of sturdy equipment, the excellent railway experience - it all smacks of care and attention. Toilets are impeccable

As a resident of eastbourne, all my life, I was somewhat 'late to the game' with Eastbourne Miniature Railway, however, I am pleased to say it was worth the wait.
An annual pass is only £12.50 per person, which gives the holder access to the parks, picnic sites, and reduced rates for riding the train.
We took our daughter (only 16 months) on the train, and have to say although the train went a little bit faster than i had anticated, it was great fun, i think i may have even enjoyed it more than she did.
We walked round the lake, investigated some of the quieter playareas, and then played in the main playareas, which seemed very popular. Picnic benches are available on many different areas, so you are able to take your own, rather than make use of the on-site cafe, which i have to say, was well priced. I did sample some of their hot dog and scone, and both were nice.
We were actually given our annual passes as a gift from a family member, but can honestly say that we would have bought our own, if we didnt already have them.
Thank you for a fun morning out.

been lotsof times, cheap enough,a lovely location with pleasant walks, food and shop nice, trains are fun, playgroung is great but its lacking something, you sort of run out of things to do after 3/4 hour and beware if theres a bit of rain ,we paid for unlimited rides on the train ,there was a shower and everything went back in the sheds and didnt come back out.wed only just arrived so were a bit peeved.still thats not their fault.

Last time I visited must have been 18 years ago...and wow the place has changed ALOT! perfect for my 3 year old daughter. Average price for entry adds up quite a bit if you have a few children but if its somewhere you would visit often membership works out a lot cheaper. Great train ride and perfect surroundings, lots of side attractions for the little ones (remember to take your 20 pence pieces- great value for money but I kept running out of 20ps ). There are several different play parks from toddlers through to the older ones.
Brilliant little café serving an array of light bite lunches...however I would take a picnic if the weather is nice as there are some great little spots down by the river with picnic tables.
All in all a brilliant day out

We had a great time although the children were much more interested in the playground than the trains. I was a little disappointed that there was only one train running that you could ride on on the day we visited. However, the staff were very friendly and the food at the cafe was good - so we ended up staying far longer than we planned. This attraction is mainly outdoors - so not a good option for a bad weather day.

Such a simple way to spend a day. Get the unlimited ticket so you can go on as many times as the children want to. Everything is nice about this place!

Had an enjoyable Sunday afternoon here. Took a son and a friend. Bought 6 train ride ticket for £5 and boys went on miniature train ride on own. They run either steam trains or diesels. The food is very reasonable - my favourite is the cream tea, which includes 2 scones fruit or plain, jam and cream. The pot of tea has hot water too. The jacket potatoes are always good value. Plenty for the kids to eat including sandwich box and hotdog. Each year they add new climbing frames. There is a toddler area and some good slides. Great if you want the kids to amuse themselves. There is also a walk around the lake which has now been adapted to be more accessible with a longer walk through the woods, additional houses to play in, a few more games. The wildlife is interesting too - always hear reed warblers, usually Canada geese, swans, rabbits, herons, big fish in the lake and have seen peregrines and a kingfisher. The shop sells a good range of Thomas the Tank Engine, Hornby and train enthusiast gifts. It is family run and friendly, a little oasis perhaps not of calm but a great place for parents and grandparents.

This attraction has a feeling of being loved and well cared for. Everything works well, the train ride is pretty and fun and the playground and models are all very good. It's at the top end of the price you'd expect to pay for this kind of thing, but you get what you pay for and everything here is very good indeed.

At just £6.90 for adults and £6.40 for over 3's (under 3's free) for unlimited rides this is a great value day out. You sit astride for the steam Train ride which is about 7-8mins long / approx 1mile and goes around a beautiful lake. There are then lots of different play zones around the lake. A big adventure playground, a miniature model railway inside and a Thomas model railway outside. Food is also good value and nice. Could easily spend most of a day here with young children. Suggest also take some 20p pieces if want to make the model trains work! Lake also seemed popular with anglers who were catching plenty of huge carp! Can't wait to go again. See www.emsr.co.uk for more info/event calendar.

You pay extra above the entrance fee for trips on the train, very pleasant but the adventure playground is only as good as the council ones in Princes Park and Hampden Park.

We have been members for a few years, it is extremely good value for money. We usually take a picnic, then buy teas, coffee and ice cream at the cafe there. Sometimes we don't, and buy a toasted sandwich type lunch instead. The cafe is good value for money.

We usually spend some time in the main playground before walking round the lake and stopping at the halfway point, where there is a slide and playhouse. They have put in some additional playhouses and picnic tables abt a quarter of the way round the lake walk this year.

The train ride is always a highlight of the trip, sometimes we save it for last. There are some train layouts in the shed which can be activated with 20p. Also the sit in ride trains are 20p a ride which is very reasonable.

The whole park is always clean including the toilets. It is also a very well maintained attraction.

I would say that it can be enjoyed by children up to the age of about 10 or 11. My niece who is 11 protests abt going but usually enjoys it when there.

We usually spend 4-5 hours here each visit. But it is also a good place for a short visit ie after school for an hour too.

A great place to take the kids, Not too bad for grown ups either. There is a play area, and a little train. Plenty of parking.

A lovely place to see miniature steam engines, have a walk around the lake or let the children play.

The entry price is also fairly good, given what's on offer, and especially before Christmas it's worth a visit - to see Santa in his grotto of course.

We took our great nephews and niece. They loved it and we got a real kick of watching them have fun. We were lucky with the weather, not sure if it would have been as enjoyable if raining. We paid for unlimited train rides, and got sandwiches from the cafe. We thought it was good value, and they were made fresh. Also good adventure play area.
