A great venue; fab staff, amazing views and always a warm welcome. The staff at the Cumberland have - for a long time - been amazing supporters of Chestnut Tree House children's hospice, putting on regular fundraising events as well as promoting awareness of the respite care offered to families by the charity. Thanks!!

Just over 75 people all attended our dance weekend at the Cumberland. This has been our venue of choice for many years now and they never let us down Great team to work with lovely food and great location as right on the front All rooms lovely and clean Ballroom Perfect for our events Elaine is the manager and she is very approachable and helps with any queries I have had or specific requirements by our dancers Ideal location for dance weekend. Shops only five mins walk away and ten mins to the station Thanks team for always being great and helpful Ideal for Turkey and Tinsel weekends or midweek programmes as the location is great. It’s an hour by bus to Brighton if you fancy a trip out and the shops that are available here have quite a selection Great venue for us. Thanks Team xx

Excellent breakfast this morning at the Durrant Eatery in the Cumberland Hotel. I opted for haddock with spinach and poached egg but everyone's breakfast looked amazing too! Plus being coastal born I'm a true sea lover and you cannot beat that view from the eatery! Excellent food, welcomed and cared for by lovely staff, great company with a good dollop of creative thinking. A top start to the day!

I have just returned from a brilliant holiday at the Cumberland Hotel. Rooms, very good and having a phone in the room is really essential for me, so it was perfect. Food excellent, also all the staff very friendly and helpful. Most of all was the entertainer, he was amazing, so comical and witty. Also very patient with us oldies!

Lovely hotel, friendly and helpful staff, clean and warm. We slept really well, beds were comfy. Good vegetarian meals in the restaurant. Breakfast was good too -all the restaurant staff were effiecient, and polite. Right oppposite the band stand so good for walking the promanade and getting into town.

I came here for the night and on arrival we had a warm welcome. The room was OK, the beds were comfy and slept OK. The only trouble is you can here people moving around above, the floor boards are very squeaky. The bathroom was OK, a few tiles were cracked. I had a nice sea view which was lovely. I have to say the breakfast was lovely and very filling, it would have been nice to have a large selection of fruits in the morning. The only thing I would say, is it was a little run down, but a nice comfy stay.

We stayed in room 211, which had a wonderful sea view. It was spacious and clean and had all the usual facilities, coffee making and hair dryer etc. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The entertainment wasnt bad, there was bingo, dancing and a comedian, so they catered for everyone, although it might not necessarily be to everyones taste. My husband and i thoroughly enjoyed our stay here , we were in a coach party with Just Go, and the weather was lovely so we managed to get out and about. Breakfast was really good, and the evening meals were allright, but we werent impressed with having pork, 3 nights in a row, although to be fair, there was an alternative, which we chose not to have. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at the Cumberland, and will probably go back next year.

This hotel is rather dated but is clean and well kept , the dining room is spacious and bright. The food was very good and plenty of it . The room I stayed in needed some decorating but was kept clean and the maid service was daily. The friends we traveled with had a leaking radiator in there bathroom which left the floor slippy ,but after numerous reporting to the staff it had not been seen to when we checked out after 8 days this is just not good enough has it left a slippy dangerous bathroom floor.

We had Sunday brunch in the little dining room looking out to sea We were only ones there and the waitress service was amazing We both had Haddock Florentine and it was very delicious The chef forgot to put toast under the food so we got it seperate on a toast rack with lots of butters jams and marmalade Food was very reasonably priced for the portion size I wish we had discovered the hotel earlier on our stay and not on our last day Many thanks to our waitress whi couldnt do enough for us

a lovely old english hotel, looking maybe a little tired, but very comfortable and wellcoming. The rooms were very large the batroom/shower/toilet was plenty large enough with rooms for your bits and pieces. The breakfast and dinners were very nice good choice and excellent service. lots of comfy chairs in the lounge to sit around on and all very clean.T hotel is across the road from the beach which is also lovely, and parade walk along the front is filled with flowers. We loved evrything about the place.

Sadly this seafront hotel did not come up to scratch for me. We had upgraded to a superior room, virtually London pricing, and our expectation was not met. A small bedroom with a poor bathroom did not warrant the money I paid. When I enquired why the bathroom mirror lighting did not work was just told the hotel disconnected them. The shower was awful in fact the overall hotel was tired. I had to return beer to the bar because of its taste, breakfast was adequate but was almost canteen style. I understand pricing will increase during tennis week but to the extent I paid I left feeling very disappointed. Quality versus Price was poor. I would not return to this hotel and leave it to the coach parties which it appeared is the core business of the hotel.

I had a lovely 5 day relaxing time at the Cumberland all staff were lovely, couldn't do enough for us. Only downer is the squeekey floorboards. Do need sorting out. Apart from that, everything was lovely.

I've been coming here for years during Eastbourne tennis week. It's gone downhill. The room was tired and dated, really frayed around the edges, quite decrepit. The staff remain polite and friendly as always. But I'll stay elsewhere next year.

Had an enjoyable few days stay. The quality of the food and service could not be faulted. Motivated and friendly staff. This is the best hotel location on a Wednesday in the Summer as weekly fireworks from the beach opposite towards the end of the evening band concert. Bathroom shower was basic and was in need of minor attention. Have not reduced my 5 star rating as food and service was to an above average standard.

The Cumberland Hotel is a friendly hotel. Rooms are clean and tidy with the usual facilities. Food was very good, contact the hotel prior to arrival for dietary (vegan) option. Location for this hotel is excellent, opposite to the band stand and 5/10 minute walk into the shopping centre. Fabulous sea view. Eastbourne Sightseeing bus stop opposite hotel.

We use the Cumberland twice a year for our dance club weekends taking around 70 people each time and I can honestly say it’s the best venue by far. The staff are lovely and can’t do enough for you and the food is great. So near to everything too. We love it and so do our dancers. X

We booked in the hotel for Sunday carvery. There was 11 of us, we had a room to ourselves. The waiter was amazing. Not one error on such a demanding order. Food was great. Price was great too. A bit dated inside. But treated really well. Will definitely go back!

This Hotel is typical old English style, but staff are attentive to customer need. Food is of basic standard simple english cusine. Everywhere is clean and well stocked, bathrooms are bijou in size. Atmosphere is very relaxed with varied entertainment options. We had a brilliant five days holiday including a few laughs on the way. However the bedrooms although with good sea veiws need the condensation issues addressing and a more energy saving approach to the heating system., radiators sound like they have not been bled, so when on full blast they still are quite cool.I would return there in the hope that the owners continue to improve the properties sleeping areas and maybe the creaking floorboards. Well done to the staff & entertainment for making it a memorable week.It is in a very good position for all amenities including bus travel.Although this hotel has taken some steps to meet disability needs the steps to front entrance are very steep and ramp access is via the basement to the lift for all floors which have flat walking areas

This is a large hotel & parts of it could do with a make over. But in general is a nice hotel.it has a lovely sun room overlooking seafront with tables & chairs ideal to have a drink or light snack or to read or sit & watch the world go by.staff are very friendly & helpful as myself & friend disabled.there was a good choice of good quality food.the only problem we had was the steps upto the hotel .but that is same for most of the hotels in Eastbourne. The room was nice & quite spacious with seaview.all in all a good hotel with great location. Would love to go again if get chance
