This is the view from the room we stayed at.
Very serene and relaxing view.
Plenty of parking places and hotel provides Β£2 voucher for all day parking at the beach.
Rooms were clean.
They are a bit old and rusty. Bed was uncomfortable , mattress needs to be replaced badly. Washroom was clean and provided with toiletries. It was not very pricey as compared to other hotels on the same location.
My husband developed backache due to the bed and he slept on the floor.
I would like to stay again for the view and location but I am not sure if my husband will agree due to the comfort. Let us see!

After a long journey into Eastbourne from another county we had room issues at a neighbouring hotel in regards to our hotel room and service. We requested our money back.
My partner and I came here to The Cumberland on a last minute whim to ask if there were any rooms free for the weekend.
The receptionist was smiling and very welcoming. After explaining our previous situation she made my partner and I feel 'at home' and made our stay feel relaxed and enjoyable. We had a fantastic room and view. I would highly recommend this hotel.

I booked direct with Yvonne, receptionist at the hotel.
She was very helpful as this was fairly a last minute booking but she was able to let us have rooms very near each other which could not have been better.
The rooms were spotlessly clean, the linen, towels and facilities were first class.
We would love to return back to this hotel for its location, value for money and for its facilities.

A great venue; fab staff, amazing views and always a warm welcome. The staff at the Cumberland have - for a long time - been amazing supporters of Chestnut Tree House children's hospice, putting on regular fundraising events as well as promoting awareness of the respite care offered to families by the charity. Thanks!!

Jan 2020. Back again. Still can't really fault this place, much the same as our previous visit. Albeit they now hold my personal record of the most expensive Beck's Blue price at Β£4.25p. They do have high bar prices overall, but I suppose it's because they are an hotel.
Jan 2019. Staff were pleasant, food was good. Room decor leaves a bit to be desired, all seems to have been done with big brushes and large cans of white emulsion. Public areas were better. I was told the place has greatly improved over the years and we had an excellent time.

We held my father’s Funeral Reception in The Durrant Eatery & a separate part of the Reception Area of The Cumberland Hotel. Manager, Yvonne organised it all for me at such a difficult time for my family and they were efficient, reliable and caring. On the day, the staff were so helpful and caring & helpful to me and all of my relatives and the buffet food they provided was not only beautifully prepared and generous but tasted wonderful! I can not recommend Yvonne & the staff at The Cumberland enough; they made a very difficult day very special indeed. Thank you!

A nice hotel along the seafront in Eastbourne. Went there to have the Sunday Carvery. It was delicious with plenty of slices of meat and lots of vegetables. Reasonably priced as well. Had a window seat which had greats views of the pier and sea. Been to a few parties there and have always had a good time. Will go back again

A really friendly helpful hotel, staff are quick to see if you need anything and help each other out when needed. The rooms are nicely furnished and some (ours) have balconies to have an early coffee watching the sea, though perhaps a little cool for this time of year. The ballroom was just right for the Orchestra once they,d learnt how to get a little more air through. I imagine it would be great for birthday parties and such like.
