Everything was excellent. The food was really delicious, especially the lemon curd goats cheese and the humus. We loved the wine selection and ambience. Will definitely be back if we are in Eastbourne (or somewhere nearby!) again.

Had an amazing nut roast and beef roast with the truffle cauliflower cheese. It tasted amazing and was a large portion. Well worth the money. The staff were very welcoming and very attentive and were very accommodating. Enjoyed a gorgeous espresso Martin after too

I came to Cru for the first time on a Saturday night with my husband and our fiends to celebrate a birthday.
We had read lots of reviews before coming to make sure we chose a good restaurant and I’m happy to say we weren’t disappointed.Small concise menu, all our food was absolutely delicious! Particularly loved the starters that we shared between the four of us - the beef croquette my highlight!
Our friends love their wine so we’re very impressed with the huge selection.The staff were friendly, the restaurant was full so had a lovely atmosphere.
All in all would highly recommend!

For the past year my sister and I have had the most amazing Airbnb booked in Eastbourne Harbour for our family, 11 adults for a surprise weekend away/celebration for our parents 50th wedding anniversary. Our friends that live in Eastbourne said that there really was only one place to go, Cru. From the moment I emailed and requested to book, Jordan couldn’t have been more helpful, as their menu is seasonal and changes on a regular basis , he explained that he would email the menu to me a few days before so that we could make our choices (being such a large party) however suggested that our parents be exempt from this in order to keep the surprise going.
As my daughter is a vegan, I was also conscious that there should be a vegan option, Jordan said that there were usually two starters and one main but that he would ask the chef to put on an additional vegan main to giver her a choice.
Jordan, then also secured a table at their sister venue, Levels, later in the evening so that we were able to carry on celebrating.
Sadly, on Monday of this week, the “Rule of Six” came into force and a years worth of planning and preparation was completely ruined, therefore we will not have the pleasure of eating at Cru as our trip has been cancelled, however, what I can say is that if their food is even half as good as their customer service, it will be amazing!
Thank you Jordan for all of your support, professionalism, understanding and most of all outstanding customer service, we very much look forward to eating with you when we re-book our trip, hopefully in the spring when this madness has sorted itself out.

Apologies to the restaurant for being so slow with this review, we are there about a month ago!
It was a really delicious meal. We didn't have a reservation, but the staff found us a table and we were so happy that they did.
We just had mains, no starters or desserts. We had the steak (with chips) & the pork chop (with mash & veg) and both meals were delicious.
The staff were so friendly and helpful and the restaurant has a lovely friendly vibe.
It's probably a good idea to make a reservation as it seems really busy.

The food, staff and wine at the restaurant were excellent. My wife and I have not eaten out much since March due to concerns over the transmission of Covid-19.
Seating is arranged sensibly to maintain distancing, antibacterial gel and enhanced cleaning are all in place so this was not a concern.
The Bavette steak we had for lunch was well presented and tasted great. As for the bottle of Chablis, simply the best wine I have tasted in a long time.
No pictures as we only thought about if afterwards.

We found here online and we are so pleased we found this little gem. Our daughter is anaphylactic to nuts and when I called to book a table I felt so comfortable with their allergy awareness.
We arrived and my husband had scallops for starters. Me and the kids had a roast and my husband had their burger. We all said it’s the best roast we have ever had in a restaurant.

We’ve been to Cru a few times and have always had a great experience. This is why we decided to treat my parents to a meal there. Our experience in one word - fan-bloody-tastic!!!!

I had no idea that Cru existed before last week even though I live very close to Eastbourne. What a hidden gem. I have a lengthy list of food intolerences which often makes eating out very stressful for me, however, having emailed Jordan once I'd made my booking she went out of her way to accommodate me. Not only did she contact me by email, she also phoned to run through the menu with me to make sure everything would be OK for me. My starter and main course were adapted by the chef and were absolutely delicious. The chef even made an Eton Mess for me so that I could indulge in a pudding. And the cherry on the cake - Cru had oak milk so I could enjoy a lovey coffee to finish off the evening. We will definitely be returning - great food, great wine, great atmosphere and exceptional customer service.

Here this evening for my wifes birthday celebrations with family we havent seen since before the lockdown .. Food, staff and venue was all first class... Highly recommended and looking forward to going back very soon .. Thank you all so much for a great night

My friends and I went for dinner at CRU and were amazed by how delicious the food was! We are all from London and felt we found a restaurant in Eastbourne that was of such a high standard but just half the price!!! The staff were so kind, funny and extremely helpful. The atmosphere was amazing and after our dinner we moved outside for an after dinner cocktail. The owners have a great knowledge of wine and are soo knowledgeable! A fantastic selection on offer! If you are after a perfect night out... this is the place!

OK. We probably are spoilt living in London but we were really excited at trying this place due to the reviews as we have found it really hard to find a a great venue with great food in Eastbourne, which we've been visiting quite a bit recently. However, sadly we found it fairly good but not much more than that to be honest and it was crazily noisy to the point of being unpleasant.
Pluses = pleasant, helpful staff, bread was great, wine list was decent. The creme brulee was good. Negs = food was fairly good but nothing brilliant and pretty expensive for what you got. We started with the crab and the short rib which were fine but nothing special. The hake in the main course was cooked really well but why were there loads of pickled onions in it which made the whole dish really sharp and unappealing. We left loads of them. Surely they should be non pickled pearl onions? We mentioned it to the staff who said they were pearl onions and said they would mention it to the chef but we heard nothing after. Whilst the bread was good, it was accompanied by a river of melted butter. I know it was a hot night but surely you can keep the butter cold? However, even if the food was fantastic, it was such a noisy place that it just wasn't relaxing. All in all it was disappointing. It maybe is a better cosy winter venue and we'd give it another go just to see if it's improved.

What a little gem this place is. After spending the day in Eastbourne we found ourselves eating in CRU. The ladies were so welcoming, very polite and attentive. The food was absolutely gorgeous. We had starters and Sunday dinner, our only regret was that we didn’t have room for dessert! Can’t wait to eat there again.

Outstanding. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food is exceptional. It’s a warm and cosy little restaurant with a nice outside space. we ordered the scallops as a starter, the steak turf and pork chop for the main then a banoffee pie to finish and we enjoyed every single dish. This place really is 5 star. will definitely be going back.
