Located a 1 minute walk from Eastbourne Pier along the seafront this pub restaurant consistently delivers great food time and time again. I've eaten there about 6 times now and have always been impressed by the quality of ingredients, the size of the portions and the range of specials on the menu. The pub has an excellent atmosphere and feels very homely. 5-stars every time.

Came here as I strongly resent being ripped off with some of the silly local hotel prices.
Not being too fussed where I ended up I ended up here - very glad that I did. Drinks are 'normal price' but the WOW is the food. So very glad I came out to eat this evening, had Ribeye and it was fantastic - an honest hats off to the Chef. Best meal I've had for a long time including ones above 'sensible' prices.Really impressed guys with everything apart from the waitress who looks depressed yet should be smiling as she presents your amazing food.
Without question 10/10 overall.

I have eaten here several times with my family and each time it just gets better.
It is real home cooked, delicious food. The staff are lovely, the service is decent.
The location is perfect, enjoy your meal then walk it off along the promenade. My son loves the Pork Belly and we just love everything else, we can't comment on the desserts as we never have room after the delicious mains.... :)

Where to start? Superb location, food, real ale, service, value and ambience, all down to the lovely landlady Heidi. As visitors, we could not have been made more welcome. Plans to go to different pubs the next two days were revised, to further enjoy this pub jewel. On a busy Sunday evening, we ordered six different dishes. They arrived together, on time, all delicious. Five plates emptied, one diner beaten by the volume. I chatted with Heidi for some time; she has applied common sense and hard work, to turn round a pub that was due to be boarded up before her arrival. Her pub deserves wider recognition; hence I have just written my first ever review. Will definitely return to the C&A, on my next visit to that part of the world.

Spent both evenings in here. Food was excellent and great value. Friendly atmosphere made even better by live music on second night. By end of evening all were up dancing and singing. Definitely one to visit!

Went to Eastbourne for a 3day break, stayed at a very good hotel but had not booked any meals there. Our first night we thought we would try the food atThe Crown and Anchor just across from where we was staying, we both decided on chicken curry, all the trimmings came out with our meal, dips etc. looked lovely, my husband really enjoyed his, I personally did not like it, nothing wrong with it just the wrong choice for me. We went back the next night, my husband had fish and chips, he enjoyed his, I had crispy belly draft with fresh vegetables, a very good selection of veg, absolutely wonderful meal, rather a large meal and much to my disappointment I was not able to finish it all, but we would highly recommend The Crown and Anchor. Staff friendly, nice atmosphere in a small local pub. Good value for good food.
Give a try.

Ate here twice during weekend stay at Royal Hotel, see separate review, which is 50 yards away. The food is very good and extremely good value, staff are very friendly and reserved a table for us later in the evening as it can get busy. Wellmpriced wine and choice of real ales. Highly recommended

We were only in Eastbourne for a night but we're looking for somewhere for lunch and when we found that the Marine closed at 2:30pm on a Saturday (and that the staff were rude when telling us this) we ended up at the Crown and Anchor. Man U were on the many TVs so the pub was pretty busy and we sat through the back where the pool tables are (can still watch the footy there!).
To be honest we weren't expecting that much from the food but were pleasantly surprised. The burger and chips was big and well presented and the ploughmans lunch also very good. My only complaint would be the confusion caused when ordering the ploughmans - I clearly asked for the Cheddar ploughmans and was then asked about 3 questions as to whether I wanted the mixed cheese ploughmans, or the cheese and ham, or whatever the other choice was... Anyway, I guess better to check than end up with the wrong thing...
The pub emptied out considerably when the football ended. Oh, and it looks far more inviting when approaching from the seafront side - we saw it from the other side and it looks a bit uninviting, but luckily that was just a facade.

This Pub has really turned itself round we have been to eat 3 times now and each time is better than the last although we don't like sport there is seating area away from telly not had to go there yet but probably think we might be missing nice area. Only complaint I have is the portions are to big and I haven't managed a pudding yet. We do live in the area so expect to keep going back till we get bored. Franky Franky

This became our local whilst spending 4 days in Eastbourne being just 25 yards from our hotel, though we were a bit wary when we saw the "Sky Sports" sign outside but the TV was switched off in the evenings. On the last day we decided to eat here as the food we had seen looked great and they didn't disappoint, the cod and chips was massive and only ÂŁ6.99 ! On saturday night had a jazz band and on sunday a karaoke, not my first choice I must admit but they had a good standard of singers. Bar staff were friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Would definitely visit again.

By far one of the best pubs locally.

With the friendly yet professional service of the staff, to the homemade, incredibly tasty and great value for money food dishes, to the vast amounts of entertainment and facilities available. Not to mention the best Landlady around.

For someone who has never really had an interest in visiting pubs to going and actually ending up working there and loving every second of it - I could not recommend it enough!

The Crown and Anchor is most definitely the place to be!

Went for an evening here as it was next door to our hotel (Marine Parade Hotel). We went on a Sunday and to my surprise it was open until midnight. There was also karaoke going on. The pub was busy but staff were quick and efficient. We always got served within a minute. Nice decent draft pint and the glass matched the drink, which I like. Out the back there was a couple of decent pool tables and a dart board. We didn't have any food, but it looked good and was certainly popular. Overal a really good pub. Shame I can't move it to where I live.
