Went last night. Rock of Ages was incredible. but... they've spent millions but still no aircon. Was like the ninth circle of hell at the top.

Really impressed. It looks great but most of the work has been behind the scenes and it has obviously been a huge job. Well done to all involved. What a great achievement for the town. Mike and the Mechanics was superb but so too was the LPO.

First visit to the updated theatre. Every thing is easy to find. Service at bar quick and not over priced. Toilets spotless and well signed. The eats not the most comfortable.

The brand New Congress Theatre is brilliant and better lay out disabled toilets and seating is very thought out would highly recommend this theatre for a matinee or an evening out and children's programmes on at this theatre

I'd been waiting for the Congress Theatre to re-open for well over two years and was even keener to get inside knowing that the London Philharmonic Orchestra would be playing some of my favourites (Sibelius 5; Greig piano concerto). The concert itself was indeed stunning. Oh but the theatre itself... huge disappointment. After such a long wait, and such a vast investment (£44m?) it all seemed so desperately ordinary inside, hardly changed at all. The colour scheme was a little better, more subdued so the emphasis was on the stage itself, which was good; and the seats were perhaps marginally more comfortable, though exactly the same size, shape and number as before. But I was left queueing to get in; there was at least one unmarked door without an usher checking tickets, and the feeling was of bland similarity, the mixture as before. Maybe all the money was spent behind the scenes and I'm really glad to see Eastbourne investing in itself while other resorts just decay. But the Congress still lacks style and focus all that effort just seems a bit of a waste somehow. Shame.

Grand Circle level for full house concert........ Shown to my seat by helpful usher. Excellent. Air con now ok! Hit
20 mins queue for just 3 ladies toilets. 20 mins to get served by one of 2 staff at a 20 yard long bar. Nice upgrade but now attend to the irritating items for 'valued' customers.

Went to see Ben Portsmouth as Elvis on the opening night since the theatre reopened after renovation. But as there were a lot of people waiting on mass for the doors to open the bar area could not cope due to high demand for drinks. There was a long que but a lot of people decided to jump the que and it was just chaos. However the show was fantastic.

A great show tonight, but the overall impression of the £10m overspent, overrunning engineering works that is the Congress Theatre is..... "reopened whilst unfinished".

No sign for the gents (used power of deduction.... "ladies", "disabled/accessible", "blank"), wires hanging down, audience confusion as to which way is out (with people walking against the general flow), fire exit signs taped to the wall and a very strong smell of paint!

Staff were friendly and helpful in directing people around the place and the Duty Manager was certainly larger than life in welcoming us as we passed on the stairs!

The show must go on, but it seems an extra couple of weeks would have been handy!

We’re working on a major renovation + new build welcome building to this fantastic theatre. I can’t comment on the shows but the place itself, and its close proximity to Eastbourne beach etc make it well worth the visit.

Very busy programme. Look spikes, comedy, West end musicals, musicians. Lots to see and people in Eastbourne want to spend money here.
Staff are friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable.
