In need of a venue for a charity event, I approached The Afton Hotel. From the first email to the last drink of the evening, nothing was too much trouble.
Fiona and Jason"s hospitality, organisation and expertise enabled us to have the most amazing night!
The food for 100 people was beautiful, tasty and hot! No mean feat for that number!
Thank you all for making our fundraiser a true success in every way.
We'll be back!

I recently visited Eastbourne and stayed at the Afton Hotel. The hotel was clean, the bedroom was clean. The food was not that good what choices you had. It was not disabled friendly and the staff were not very friendly.

we had a great weekend with the dancemore group. We have always been made to feel welcome by the the staff. The rooms and food are always of a high standard. The hotel is in a great location for the seafront and the shops. If you like dancing give their floor a try its a good size and shape. Already booked to go back.

I have never stayed at the Afton but organised few events at this hotel and the customer service and hospitality deserves a lot more than 5 stars. Nothing is a problem and ever member of staff is very friendly, polite and most helpful.

Reply from The Afton Hotel:
Thank you very much for your great review Mia. We are aalways happy to hear that our hardwork and attention is appreciated. We hope to see you again soon.
This is my sixth visit for a long weekend at the beginning of November and not once have I been disappointed. Rooms are clean and comfy, every member of staff is friendly and so very helpful. Food is good, plentiful and always hot (unless you have a salad). Big plus Is that it is dog friendly. I look forward to hopefully returning in November 2016.

We had a great weekend with our dance friends, it was lovely to catch up with people and spend time socialising, dancing, dressing up and having fun! The hotel is in a fantastic position,we had a sea view and it's just a few minutes from the main shops. The staff were brilliant and accommodated our wish not be disturbed too early for making up the room! The room service was efficient and friendly, there was plenty of room to store belongings and loads of hot water. The food was fine in the evening, we enjoyed meeting up and having a chat over the day. The waiting staff were friendly and accommodating, replenishing the breakfast buffet when requested for instance. We love Eastbourne and weve put our names down for next year.

We visited the hotel as part of a weekend coach trip. We were greeted on our arrival by the assistant manager who was pleasantness itself. This was the second year we have stayed at this hotel. We were in room 211 which on the second floor overlooks the entrance to the pier (I think it was the same room as last year). The room was clean and comfortable albeit a bit small. The shower was stimulating and the bathroom very clean. It is however in need of redecoration.

Dinner was very pleasant basic but quite tasty. The waiting staff were like little worker bees darting around but all very efficient. I would especially like to mention Stephen who was very attentive and saw to our every whim. Only one slight observation is that the cheese and biscuits could have done with a little celery and a few grapes. As served with no trimmings was unappealing. The dining room could do with a bit of TLC as in some areas paint is flaking off the walls.

Breakfasts were well cooked and enjoyable.

Only criticism was the noise made by drunken youths leaving the pier on Friday and Saturday nights. Loud and foul mouthed and fighting.

The price of drinks was on the expensive side and the drink for £2 between 7.30 and 11 pm was disappointing because of the 'offer' spirits and beers which were of inferior quality.

Overall our visit was made most pleasant by all of the staff and I would definitely return.

Many thanks to Jason and everyone at the Afton for helping to make my daughter's wedding party such an enjoyable time. So kind of you to hide all the Christmas decorations and rearrange the dining room to make it just as she wanted. You were all so helpful and we had a lovely time.

We had a lovely time, room was nice & spotless. Right opposite the beach & the pier. Within walking distance of everything, We had breakfast and dinner everyday at the hotel which was very nice. Staff were always friendly & couldn't do enough to help.
It was a great dancing weekend, look forward to returning next year.

Having just returned from the dance weekend mentioned in recent reviews I was very surprised to read some negative remarks from one of our group. We had a very happy weekend, with the helpful and friendly staff a major factor in creating a very enjoyable break. Of course the menu was not what could be expected of a five star hotel, but it was tasty and plentiful. I find it impossible to fault the Afton which offers extremely good value for money and we have already put our names down for next year.

As an organiser for a dance weekend for members of our dance school last week I cannot thank Jason, Fiona and all the staff enough for helping the weekend run so smoothly. This is the third year I have booked the Afton for our dance weekend and have already booked for next year as we all had such a good time. The atmosphere and friendliness of the staff is second to none and with 50 people arriving throughout the day and booking in, nothing was ever too much trouble. If someone booked in and needed a change of room then it was done or if they weren't happy with any aspect of their stay the management were always on hand to get it sorted. Each year we go there has been someone available to help unload my van with all the equipment and luggage, even the owner of the hotel lends a hand.

Our dining experience is always as expected and no it isn't a 5 star gourmet dining experience its good wholesome home cooked food with plenty of choice and perfectly suitable for everyone. They have even catered for one of our party who was on a gluten free diet. Several of our larger appetites even ordered seconds and that was no trouble. Gravy on the side no problem, don't like whats on the menu? Let them know in advance and they will cook you something else.

One of our party has left negative feedback about this hotel that I have read ( I guess he won't be coming next year!) I'm afraid I have to disagree with his review. If the hotel doesn't know about your complaint while you are there they don't have the chance to do anything about it. If he didn't like his room he could have moved, somebody else did. If his towels weren't fluffy enough he could have asked for some new ones. If he was that desperate for a biscuit with his tea I would have given him one and as for putting your drinks bill on a tab to pay at the end of the weekend....hardly a reason to leave a negative review! This hotel is a family run hotel and the same staff have been there for the last 3 years that we have visited, restaurant staff included so if you are looking for a friendly welcome from people who care about your stay being the best it can be then this is the place for you. I would stay here even if I was visiting Eastbourne without running a dance weekend. 50 of us came this year and had a fabulous time and I expect there will be 50 people next year as our weekend is always oversubscribed.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Afton Hotel. Very comfortable room and great bar. Very friendly and helpful staff and reasonably priced. It's across the road from the pier and a few hundred yards from the centre of town so perfectly situated. The entertainment wasn't our kind of thing but those watching seemed to be having fun. If you are looking for a good 2* hotel in Eastbourne this is it.

I stayed at the Afton for one night B & B. I needed a late check out the next day as we needed to get showered and changed for an evening party. The staff put us in a spare room the next morning and allowed us to leave at 6pm.
The rooms were well appointed and the cleanliness was of a very high standard. Breakfast was good quality too. On check in Fiona made us feel very welcome.
This would be my first choice in Eastbourne.

This hotel does exactly what it says on the tin. A no frills seaside hotel situated bang on the sea front (almost ) opposite the pier.

Ok, so it's a little jaded in places but the bathroom was clean and the bed was comfortable. Throw in a full English breakfast and all this for £45 for two !!

Not a place for a romantic, up market, weekend away but horses for courses.

The Afton Hotel is a very welcoming sight, the staff are always pleased to see you, and the food is excellent. The Afton has recently changed hands and we wish Hany, Milad and Adel good wishes for the future.
We were lucky to get a front room with a balcony which gives us a good view of the pier. The pier is now open and you can walk around it.
We were there for the air show, which was cancelled on the Thursday due to the weather, but Friday turned out to be a glorious day.
We have been many tines to the Afton and look forward to returning.

We had a lovely stay at the Afton hotel. My brother stays here quite a lot and I can see why.

We were looked after from start to finish by all the staff and the management were very very friendly. Nice comfy room also.

Breakfast was fab. Worth staying here just for that.

Definitely our hotel of choice when we stay here again.

See you soon

The hotel staff very helpful and friendly and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. The only negative was breakfast as cold fried eggs not good but the second day I was able to chose a breakfast that suited me better - so glad there were other options available.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Afton, the management (Jason) and staff couldn't have been more helpful, especially Linda who looked after our dietary needs which are vegan, also a big thank you to the chef who created the lovely meals for us.

We look forward to staying at the Afton Hotel in the very near future.
