3rd December 2014

A brand new festival is coming to Chelmsford next year. Soundstock is a two-day music and comedy event, taking place on the weekend of 2nd and 3rd May 2015.

As well as providing entertainment for all the family, it will also raise vital funds and awareness for some great local causes:

Essex Air Ambulance - a charity providing free life-saving helicopter emergency medical service for the critically ill and injured

Stanley’s Heroes, which was set up by Rob and Laura Newman to provide their 2-year-old son, who has been diagnosed with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy, with equipment and aids, in order to help him live a better than basic life.

…and CCR! Not only will this help raise awareness and support for our station, we’ll also be very much involved in the festival as part of our commitment to being a voice and platform for Chelmsford, working with Soundstock to help promote what promises to be a great event for our community here in the city of Chelmsford.

Aimed directly at families, Soundstock will provide activities for children to enjoy, including The Magic SOUND-About - a designated area (suitable for children up to 12 years of age) providing inflatables, rides, arts & craft and entertainment.

The festival was created and is being run by CCR family member Sharon Alford (Ingenious Rock), who hosts the What’s on Your iPod show. She is working with partners Ellis Catering and The Laughing Pod Comedy Club, while CCR and Essex Air Ambulance will also be involved in the event.

Soundstock has already got some great names in music and comedy lined-up to appear at the event. These include former X-factor contestants Next of Kin, Toyah, Ultimate Eagles, Johnny Cash Roadshow and The Simon & Garfunkel Story.

Comedians confirmed for the festival include Patrick Monahan, who will be compere over the whole weekend, as well as Katherine Ryan, Chris Turner, Marlon Davis and Paul McCaffrey.

As a community event, Soundstock is also offering an opportunity for local music acts to appear on the main stage of the festival in May – with a Battle of the Bands competition taking place at The Bassment in early 2015.

To celebrate, Soundstock will be holding a ticket launch party on Friday 28th November at The Bassment, where for one time only, tickets to the festival will be available to buy at a reduced price. The event starts at 8pm, is free entry and will include entertainment on the night from Joe Dolman Calgary Official and All At Sea. Come along, enjoy the night and help support a great cause!
