Opera in the Orchard.

Spoke to Chris Bishop earlier today and he was teling me that Opera in the Orchard was now in it's seventh year and going from strength to strength. This years event is this coming weekend. July 12th and 13th.

Opera in the Orchard grew out of a dream of the Bishop Family to hold a function in the orchards and garden of Bouncers. With the help of Steve Rumsey, a professional conductor, the dream slowly took shape and, before they knew it, Opera in the Orchard became a reality. The setting for the Opera is stunning. Bouncers terrace and lawn overlook the water meadows and the River Blackwater with Danbury in the distance. This part of Wickham Bishops used to be a thriving apple growing area and a few of the orchards remain today giving the lane a very rural feeling and providing the events title.Over the last 7 years some great classics have been performed and links with the Plume in Maldon have been made to get the local children involved.

2002 La Serva Padrona & The Telephone
2003 Carmen
2004 Don Pasquale
2005 The Barber of Seville
2006 Marriage of Figaro
2007 Cosi Fan Tutte
2008 The Impresario and Cavalleria Rusticana

It promises to be a great weekend, fingers crossed that the weather improves!!!
