Ice skating.
It’s the home of the Chelmsford Chieftains Ice Hockey Team and the venue for their exciting home matches. Rink-side facilities at Riverside include a fully licensed bar, cafeteria, hot and cold vending and seating for over 600 spectators. There are hundreds of pairs of skates available for hire at the rink.
This is also the training rink for the Eastenders star DANIELLA WESTBROOK for her spectacular performances on dancing on ice with MATTHEW GONZALEZ.
Tropical Wings.
They have one of UK's largest butterfly houses - go and visit and you'll be amazed by the range of free-flying butterflies, both large and small, colorful and transparent. The warm, tropical atmosphere is ideal for them to thrive in, plus you will be able to spot lorikeets, free-flying sun birds and some reptile friends - iguanas and red foot tortoises - who also enjoy soaking up the balmy atmosphere. They also have a large deepwater area for carp and the chance to feed the fish. In Caterpillar Corner, you can see the butterflies as they pupate and change into colorful adults.
Sports centre.
During the school holidays Dovedale Sports Centre offer a wide variety of sports courses for children aged from 5 to 16 years. The activities on offer at the Centre include archery, art workshops, badminton, circus skills, dance, film days, football, gymnastics, karate, mini tennis, table tennis, trampoline and three-in-one specials.
Theatres.
The Civic Theatre is situated in the heart of Chelmsford West End, programming a wide variety of entertainment including: concerts, plays, ballet, pantomime, opera, jazz, dance, musicals, comedy, film and live music.
