A message came through from Ashley Hammond on the We're all from Chelmsford group on FB.

The Chelmsford YMCA Supported Lodgings Scheme aims to provide supportive accommodation to any needy young person by offering a room in a safe, secure and nurturing environment with either a family or a single adult, offering support and guidance. This helps young people that may be struggling to cope with their current circumstances and to gain the skills through encouragement to live independently.

Supported lodgings help young people to develop life skills whilst enabling them to move on to independence. Helping them manage budgets, manage their own health etc etc.

Supported lodgings is aimed at young people aged 16 to 17, it's a stepping stone to empower them to learn valuable life skills and to make their transition to independence.

Chelmsford YMCA in partnership with Chelmsford Borough Council are currently recruiting Supported Lodgings Providers in the Chelmsford area who can offer a room in their home, for anything from a few months to two years.

Should you wish to find out more about becoming a Supported Lodgings Provider, please contact Chris at the YMCA on 01245 355677.
