Yes, we know – today has been one of the warmest days! But there is no escaping it - now the nights are drawing in, it means that winter is just around the corner. And with the winter season about to begin, so do plans for celebrating Christmas!
Chelmsford Town Centre has announced its 2011 Christmas Lights Switch-on Event which will take place on Sunday 27th November in Chelmsford High Street.
The event will take place on a Sunday, a perfect way to compliment your Sunday shopping, before it reaches the manic and crowd packed weekends in December. In addition to the light switch on, there will be many activities for all of the family to enjoy- including choirs, brass bands, bell ringers, Singing Stars Competition all hosted by BBC Radio Essex.
Real reindeer will be visiting Chelmsford for the day, along with Santa, to wish everyone a Merry Christmas before they have to think about delivering presents a few weeks later! Children can tell Santa what they would like to find underneath their tree on Christmas Day. There will also be mince pies and mulled wine for the adults to keep you from feeling the cold.
The stage will be positioned in front of the Shire Hall, which will see the street closed for the day, meaning that no traffic can come through to disturb the festivities!
The day commences at 12 noon with activities running throughout the day until 4.45pm, when the fireworks finale will take place.
The finale will see the lights being switched on, and the fireworks filling the sky. So save the date for the 27 November, and help celebrate Chelmsford’s Christmas Light Switch-on!
