Used to stay here a lot a few years back, not much has changed (for the better)
Firstly, check in, look like the Village chain are trying to do away with the human touch, new system at the front desk to check in via a screen - doesn't work, after being told to queue for a spare screen, put in details and they were not accepted, so back to queue for a "human being" to check me in!
Hotel currently being refurbished, room stank of fresh paint, OK colour, but it is only a make over - windows are knackered, basics in room were sparse (would have been a much better review if there had been a 20p packet of biscuits to go with the coffee)
Bar is quite vibrant, restaurant is tired and dark.
As hotel has a gym, arrive between 5 - 6pm, you have to park 1-2 hundred yards away as gym members knick all the close parking (tip for gym members- park further away and use the walk as part of your fitness regime)

I stayed recently at the hotel for 3.5 weeks with a large group. The staff could not be more accommodating during this time. They were quick to react to any requests and ensured that our stay was as comfortable as possible. Jodie and her team were excellent and i would have no hesitation in going back.

Nice hotel good facilities. needs better security, as was woken up several times through the night by people knocking on our door, people arguing, shouting. Not nice when we have two little girls with us. And the lift was broken when we checked out also do not fun going down two flights of stairs with two little girls and all of our luggage! Other than that it was a nice stay, they just need to address the issue of drunks coming up from the bar downstairs.

On arrival we were greeted with a machine to check in. The girl on reception asked us to follow the instructions. Once we'd checked in, we asked if we were able to use the gym during our stay and told we could. We weren't however shown where it was or the direction of our room so we wandered about for a few minutes trying to find where to go, until someone stopped us to ask if we were ok and showed us the way.

The room was decorated lovely and the facilities in the room were great, however, there was a yellow stain on the shower floor and quite a few hairs too. I wasn't confident that it had been cleaned to a high standard.

When it came to bed time (around 2130) as soon as I walked into the room I could hear loud music. I really didn't know what was going on. I went to the phone to call reception, but there was no number for reception, only numbers for the other parts of the hotel. I went to bed and put earplugs in to try and block out the music, but I could still hear it clearly and could feel the bass through the bed. I resigned myself to the fact it could take a while to get off to sleep and was kept awake for some time. I managed to drift off and woke not long after to the music even louder than it was previously!!

In the morning we went down for breakfast. There was no-one to greet us at the restaurant after we waited for a good 5 minutes. I spoke to the girl on reception who said just to go through and there would be someone there to meet us. Went through and there was no one around that was obviously staff so we just went to find a table. Made our way up to the hotplate, where the food was swimming in grease. The scrambled egg was pasty white and tasted of nothing and there wasn't much else to choose from for a healthy breakfast.

After breakfast, we went to the front desk to check out. I asked the lady there, what the loud music was for as it was very disturbing. She said that it was for a prom. I said that I could still hear it through earplugs it was that loud and that I could feel the bass through the bed. And she said 'aww really. it was that loud?' No apology, no nothing.

If I had to stay here in future I would definitely ask if there are any big events going on that may disturb your sleep. If I'd known about the loud music I would have asked for a room as far away from it as possible, but this was not made known to me until it was too late. And even then I couldn't get in touch with Reception by phone.

Excellent room with a fantastic bed and television, good to watch the football, quiet with no noise even though there were functions going on throughout the weekend. Breakfast was up to its usual standard and plenty available

Stayed here for two nights whilst visiting relatives. Very very dark decor. Whilst the double glazing keeps out traffic noise, the tissue thin walls and internal doors mean that you can hear everything being said in the corridor outside. Breakfast very good, and all staff friendly and helpful

I am came to the hotel. Thought I would it be a good night sleep instead Doors banging and lots of shouting. Other than that place was nice to stay but no welcoming to the hotel would also be good for a sign to rooms

Stayed over for our anniversary. They allowed us to check in early as the room was ready which was great. We had a club room which was nice but had no bath, not a major issue though! Overall enjoyed the whole stay

We had a great day. Used the spa. Eat in the pub. Then went for a night out in bury. Room was nice but I would not up grade to upper deck again as it was not much better than the normal room. Would use this hotel again

Don't expect full use of the gym or pool when staying. Bar is a bit pricey but it has a sports screen and a lovely friendly bar lady. you check in yourself on a computer screen but there is someone around for the techno stuck.
Nice big comfy bed with plenty of room space, an all you can eat buffet breakfast for the hungry and they'll even poach you some eggs if you ask.

We have visited several Village Hotels over the years from Newcastle to Chester and have always found the one in Bury to be the best. Ideal for Bury markets and a visit to the East Lancashire Railway and museum is well worth a visit.

On arrival the hotel looks nothing special but on entering the hotel you start to get a feel as to how nice it's going to be
Lovely friendly greeting on arrival then only to be told that you self check in, not a fan especially when you have great staff on hand to great you who can do the whole check in for you
Rooms are large and spacey, modern and well presented with everything you'd expect in a modern hotel.
The bathroom is beautiful with large walk in shower and hand/body wash, shampoo and conditioner are of a good quality
All in all a very pleasant experience and would return again if in the area

We enjoyed our night stay. The room was clean and modern with big flatscreen tv. We enjoyed the use of the pool and steam room/sauna. Had a drink in the onsite pub and watched footie on big screen.

Booked this busy hotel as a base for a nearby wedding.
Unfortunately we did not have time to use the leisure facilities which looked to be first class.
Access to the hotel is by means of a flight of steps leading from the car park up to the main entrance.
We were not aware of the available lift around the corner due to lack of signage.

This is a good hotel with access to motorways. There was a wedding and the music was loud on the first floor and it kept me awake. Good service and food. Check the disabled access if you need it before you get there. There is a lift but it's not obvious.

Very comfortable room and friendly staff all around. The leisure facilities are super with a great pool rather than a pocket handkerchief so you can get in a proper swim alongside the normal steam and sauna rooms. Location great for me as it was for a family visit in Bury

Good value for club room including gym & leisure facilities. Well located for various places we wanted to visit in the local area. Food choices in restaurant etc a little unimaginative & overpriced. However other than that would recommend a visit.
