This is an opportunity to experience good old fashioned customer service. This eatery is so popular there might be a bit of a queue at the door, but you never have to wait long and are quickly escorted to your table.
My last visit was during a "1940s weekend" when lunch time entertainment was being provided by a choir from Farnworth.
The management and staff had entered into the spirit of the era by wearing wartime uniforms.
The menu is simple but excellent food served quickly.
Always a feel good experience.

This huge restaurant offers a good choice of fish dishes as well as sandwiches, jacket potatoes, salads. The downside is no waitress service, so have to order at the Bar, pay and wait your turn. There is a nice conservatory area and a pianist! Not sure why and he became too loud and annoying for my friend. The pensioners special at £7.50 is a good price and a good portion for the money. Will visit again when next in Bolton.

It's got to be dining at Olympus for my friend and I before we go on to the Octagon Theatre. The finest mini fish and chips with the lightest batter, dainty pot of peas and all for under £7 which includes coffee. It is a theatrical experience from stepping through the door and being greeted by the charming and attentive staff. You are greeted, seated and promptly served from an extensive menu - not just fish and chips for which they are famous. You have entered a time machine where courtesy, manners and pleasure in service is the order of the day.

I have been here many times as it has an amazing atmosphere, from the second you walk in the are extremely helpful and friendly. The food is beautiful and when I have been before they have had a pianist which makes the whole experience delightful.

Ok so was a very bizarre eating experience but loved every minute. As my title says it was literally like stepping onto the titanic...but the restaurant sells fish and chips dinner style. In the background you'll hear the soft playings of a man on the grand piano. At the door your greeted by a lovely man that seems to know every person personally. Very chilled out good food, comfortably furnished and very warm presumably for the elderly folk that fill the tables.

It has been quite a long time since we visited here but enjoyed it as much as last time. Was quite busy so had to wait a little while for table for 3 & I think some tables are kept for regulars eg. window tables as one was empty but nobody was shown to it unless it had been reserved perhaps? My sister opted for a jacket potato with tuna & was very pleased with it, plenty of tuna & salad came with the potato, my little nephew enjoyed his chicken nuggets & chips, children's meals are excellent value as they get a really decent portion although he wouldn't let his mum steal any of his chips! They come with a carton drink, crayons & little book which kept him happy. I had cod & chips, very tasty. Well worth a visit no wonder it has a regular following. Staff was efficient as ever.

Called in here as part of a day coach trip to Bolton Market, with a Fish and Chip Meal included. Cannot begin to put into words what a fabulous experience it was. The meal itself was really enjoyable, beautiful battered fish in a crispy dry batter, chunky chips and mushy peas, with bread and butter and a coffee. Now onto the staff and the place itself. The staff were of the highest quality, very helpful, very welcoming, and totally very friendly. The restaurant was immaculately decorated and a very nice ambience, and the toilets were exceptionally clean. Just wished I lived locally so I could visit on a regular basis. Would definitely recommend this place if you want to be treated as a person and not just a customer.

Portions are small and the prices are too high £7.20 for a small fish half a portion of chips 1 slice of bread and a cup of tea, the service is spot on however you dont feel like you've had value for money.

Great fish and chips in lovely big airy room, especially with piano playing in the background. A good choice of fish dishes and specials and can get get wine/beer if you wish. Parking is a slight problem unless you are already within the vicinity and disabled spaces are extremely limited. Service is quick and efficient, but you have to go and order and pay at the counter. Not condusive with the feel of place in my opinion. Overall, good place for fish and chips. Will visit again.

Nice environment and helpful staff. The fish and chips that I tried was really nice and the soup of the day was also good.
It is a mix between self service and restaurant, but for a fish and chips place it is quite good.

I thought to give it a try , the food is good , but, to include 'bread and butter and a cup of tea' ( brings to mind the seaside cafe) then ,overcharge for a handful of peas , a bit dissappointing , the place is very nice and clean the staff very pleasent , but ,a bit its overpowering when it comes to putting your coat on , it seems to be a bit of a scramble who gets to you first to help you , they seem to cater for the older generation who love the attention but its not for me thank you..

.........we were regular visitors for a long time but on a couple of visits the fish was raw in the middle .The meals were replaced without issue by very pleasant staff but it spoils the experience ,Consequently we have given it a miss since .

Perhaps it may be worth another try .

Went to Olympus with a group who had been to Ocatagon. The food service and the attention by Mr Olympus was quite outstanding. We ate in the Orangery, a lovely dining room that was perfect for our party. We have been before and will return, it is the place to go for a lovely meal and top class service.

Another favourite of ours.you would think you were in a West End night club from the decor.Even has a Grand piano which is played by a good professional on certain days.
There is a good range of different types of fish, you can have it grilled if you do not like batter and they also sell pies and other food if fish is not your favourite.
Prices are very reasonable and even pensioners specials which are good value, including tea or coffee and bread and butter.
The staff are friendly and courteous ,opening the door for you and even rush over to help you on with your coat. Can't be faulted and a must to visit whilst shopping in Bolton. Good old fashioned hospitality in top rate surrounding's.

You get what you pay for! This is by far the best Fish around. Fact. The 'Whopper Cod' is huge and requires a decent appetite. The surroundings are superb and staff attentive. My favourite Fish and Chip restaurant outside of Whitby.

This is a fish and chip restaurant with a difference. Standards and customer service are everything here. The staff are friendly and attentive and no one enters or leaves without acknowledgement.
The restaurant is huge and very tastefully decorated, it even has a grand piano which is used.
The restaurant has been established around 25 years that I am aware of and over the years has continued to expand.
The food is excellent and not confined to just fish and chips.
A large varied menu caters to every requirement and is very popular with coach parties and pensioners.
Fish and chips and peas with tea bread and butter is priced around the £7 mark.
I highly recommend it and have been going there regularly for around 25 years even though I live about 20 miles away.

After a rare shopping trip with both my son and my husband, the sight of a fish and chip restaurant where we could sit in to eat was a welcome sight. The olympus is really big inside and was very busy for a Friday lunchtime. We were greeted as soon as we walked through the door and shown to a table . Menus arrived 2 minutes later and there was a good selection to choose from. Me and my husband picked the "just enough" option which was cod, chips , tea , bread and butter. We ordered peas as extra...compulsory when having fish and chips. My 12 year old son had jumbo sausage, chips , curry and chocolate milk shake. When they brought the food out ( very quickly) it was obviously all freshly cooked but on first reaction I thought my meal was small. It wasn't, it was as the menu stated " just enough" . I was full and I like my food! Any more would have been too much. The chips were hot and fluffy inside , the batter was light and crispy and the fish was just delicious. I watched the staff and the whole place is based round good old fashioned manners .opening the door as people were leaving, helping a lady on with her coat...why can't everywhere be like this? To sum up..For the 3 of us it was £24 . The food was delicious, the service fantastic and I just wish every town had an Olympus. ...well worth a visit next time you are in Bolton.
