Called in to the Olympus before travelling to Manchester for a show on the train. Arrived at 5pm and invited to sit anywhere by the friendly staff. Had to ask for a menu after over 10 mins. Only around 5/6 other tables occupied so it wasn't as though they were busy.
Ordered our meals with one pot of tea and coffee. The coffee came with a greasy film floating on the top. This was quickly replaced.
The Plaice and chips we had both ordered came fairly quickly however the fish wasn't particularly nice. Should have stayed safe with the cod. Quite disappointing.
Been here many times before and have always had lovely food, not sure what happened on this occasion, maybe because it was at the end of the day? Every other time has been lunch or early afternoon but I would expect a restaurant like this to deliver good food throughout the day.
Staff as always were extremely friendly and apologetic with the coffee issue and that is the only reason I gave 3 marks on this occasion.
Having said that it has not put me off going here as it is a lovely place. One bad meal is not a reason never to go again.

One of the very few places left in Bolton you can buy traditional fish and chips. Chips always cooked to perfection.

went today with my friend & loved the décor, everywhere was very clean, a man was playing the piano (very special) the menu was very detailed (6 chips !) catering for all tastes & portions although a fish & chip restaurant other items were on the menu I had the cod (again you can choice the size you want) chips & peas this came with bread & butter, tea or coffee, vimto or orange juice, reasonably priced, the staff are very friendly (family owned) greeting you at the door with a smile you can sit where you want (I recommend the orangey great comfy seats, very bright lighting) food delivered quickly - the afters menu apple & custard, sponge & custard, scones, cream & jam etc I had the apple pie & it was delicious - no rush to leave cannot wait to return

I an my wife were visiting Bolton to do a little shopping and had been told to visit the Olympus. We did so and after having to wait for a table were shown to one. We were given a menu and was a little astounded at the prices, £8.60 for fish, chips, peas and a cup of tea. Obviously seeing that we were older we were offered the Pensioner's Special (How I hate the term 'Pensioner' which indicates income not age.) which was the same menu, minus the peas, or so we thought at a price of £7.20, Sadly they must think that us 'pensioners' eat like sparrows as the portions were very small. The food was of reasonable quality but the child-like portions made it poor value for money. Shan't be going there again. By the way I'm not being miserly, I would happily pay a fair price for a fair meal, but could have had a large carvery meal for less nearby.

The concept of a fish & chip restaurant is simple but the execution here is superb. This is a large restaurant (250 seats) but the whole operation is smooth and efficient. From the layout of the printed menus to the quality of the food, spacious layout, cleanliness and speed of service my wife and I found it faultless and excellent value for money. We've been to much more expensive restaurants than Olympus but have rarely been attended to so well with the waitress helping me on with my coat as we departed and opening the door for us with a smile. This was our third visit in four weeks and we'll be back.

The food is very nice for all tastes, unfortunately when I visited a choir were trying to sing above everyone chatting I was embarrassed for them.Usually a pianist can be heard very pleasantly in the background.
There is no denying the staff are very friendly and efficient but I prefer to be served at the table and not queuing at the counter to order food.

We visit this restaurant quite often even though we are no longer local. The service cannot be beaten, the fish and chip meals are superb. We always have the Pensioner Special with a salad addition. The pianist who plays on Tuesdays and Wednesdays makes you feel as if you are on holiday. When we went in yesterday there was a carol concert going on!

Thank you all for your hospitality and great service (and food)

It's very rare to find a restaurant that has good value food and provides a high standard of service. There are many much more expensive restaurants that could learn from the standard of service, cleanliness and value that the Olympus provides.
If you are in Bolton and fancy some fish and chips in a very nice environment this is a restaurant worth a visit.

We called in for early tea last Saturday, we had the set Christmas menu, but as well as Turkey you could have fresh Cod, we opted for fish and chips complete with mushy peas, carrots, sprouts and freshly served cod in very very light batter, prior to this we had home made vegetable soup, followed by Christmas pud or carrot cake, to complete the meal we had a glass of wine each and a sherry, the total bill was £49 for 3 of us, the service was exemplary, nothing was to much trouble, we also has a pianist playing a grand piano in the back ground, all in all a delightful, experience one which we will be doing again, This a gem of a find in Bolton and we highly recommend it to all readers

Always a friendly greeting particularly from Ali. Great service , bread @ butter and
hot drink included in price. Fish is very good. Pricey for "fish and chips" but I
sometimes have the "pensioners special" , smaller meal but still good.
Toilets always clean.

We visited the Olympus for lunch and afternoon tea - a group of 30. Everything was absolutely superb, the food, the service, the restaurant and the afternoon pianist! Thanks to Tasos and his team for running the best fish & chip restaurant we've ever been to - can you open a branch in Birmingham for us?

Went last week while in the area Christmas shopping. Second time I've been here and it's still as amazing as the first time I went. The standard portion is a good size with bread and a cuppa. There is also the option of an 8oz cod and a 16oz cod. Goodness knows few people would be able to manage that with chips as well. The restaurant is always busy and nice to sit in the conservatory in the summer. Besides, how many chippy's do you know that have a grand piano? Definitely be going back when in the area again

When people see the words "Fish and Chip Restaurant" they may be excused for thinking it's just another "chippy".
The Olympus is anything but that.
This is a family-run restaurant, that serves good, freshly made food. The staff are polite and friendly and the tables are set out so that there is plenty of room.
Everywhere is spotless and customers are well looked after - from the young to the old.
In several visits I have seen families with young children, people with extra needs and pensioners all enjoying themselves. The staff also enjoy serving the customers.
The place is a pleasure to eat in.
If you are lucky, you may also get there on one of their days with entertainment as well
