Used the Gym facilities and found Dave in the leisure team very helpful. Good range of facilities and free weights / equipment. Plenty of room to set up a circuit and/or use the spin bikes or mats etc

Absolutely fantastic circuit classes by Dave in Leisure. Well executed, challenging, motivating and most of all fun. Highly recommended. Extremely helpful during the class if somebody requires help or just a little adjustment, as he really knows his stuff he does not hesitate to advise.

Been a regular for the gym now for several years... seen some recent updates to the equipment which have been great! Dave is always friendly on the desk and more than happy to assist with any workout questions! He is always on top of keeping the gym and equipment tidy and safe for us all! Top guy!

Stayed at Mercure for one night, do the rooms get cleaned? Not properly. Loads of noise, couldn’t sleep, bar comfortable and the lady serving was lovely (Irene). Go for breakfast, the food might not be great but the staff are especially julie, she’ll make you smile, what a personality 😂

Steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi, open weight room, free weights and cardio equipment.

The staff are friendly and approachable.

Regular cleaning and water testing.

I stayed at thie Mecure Georgian hotel for approximately 8 nights recently while I was doing my Guide dog training. My ground floor accessible room was spotless and cleaned every day. The food was delicious and varied. The staff were so friendly and helpful. You could really tell that they had all had training in dealing with people who have visual impairments. The breakfast staff Lydia and Julie were fantastic and the bar staff Irene, Marina and Lewis were fabulous as well. Nothing was too much trouble and were very caring and considerate.
Thank you to everyone

Average hotel warm and clean comfy beds only down side over priced bar
£5.60 for a pint of coke and that's not the real stuff as it came out of a mixer pump
Breakfast £11 per head for all you can eat and drink so good value

Really good stay, welcomed at reception, room was clean and comfy, bar staff around to help with any questions and quick service. Server ag breakfast Julie was amazing. Couldn't do enough to help and could speak to her like we had known her for years. Massive asset to the hotel. Would stay again and would highly recommend.

This hotel never disappoints. Good size clean rooms, fab pool and facilities, spoilt for choice breakfasts and the staff are so friendly and helpful, Irene behind the bar is so lovely and welcomes you as an old friend and Julie the breakfast waitress never fails to bring a smile to our faces along with a full English.

I booked a two day deal with dinner and bottle of wine included for the first night. I had requested upgrade to Privilege Room for extra £20 per night. When we arrived, the boiler in Privilege Room part of the hotel wasn't working so we were transferred to another room, nice and warm. The staff were all excellent throughout our stay, particularly Irene and Marina in the Bar and Karen the Aromatherapist who provided high quality massages (highly recommended!). The quality of food was 1st class and we chose from the Table D'hote menu (£22 for 2 courses) on the first night. The second night we chose from the more expensive menu, again good quality but not recommended for travellers on a tight budget. There is free WiFi in the hotel but you may find 4G is faster. Strangely we didn't see any families using the hotel during our stay (unusual bearing in mind the indoor pool). There is a gym, saunas, steam Room and spa bath. The hotel seems to be popular with business customers. Yes, the bathrooms are a bit dated and the shower/curtain can puddle on the bathroom floor. However the beds are comfortable and rooms adequately equipped.
The highlight of this hotel is the staff who make every effort to make your stay enjoyable and are a credit to the Mercure Hotel chain.

Stayed over at this hotel as it was a friends 30th, The party room was a good size and was furnished/decorated to a good standard

The hotel is old and in need of an upgrade but the rooms clean and had no complaints

The staff are a mixed bag, Breakfast staff de-motivated and I feel breakfast in other hotels makes or breaks the stay with the personality of the staff. Some of the reception staff again just don’t look happy, maybe management need to give them a moral boost? Bar staff at the function friendly and a lot more personality.

Overall a good stay for what we paid, with an update or even just the management making the staff happier to work this could be a great hotel!

My step-daughter purchased a voucher for my husband and I to have afternoon tea, so we decided to make a night of it!

We had a nice welcome and the afternoon tea was lovely. Our room was clean and bed was comfortable; we slept well. We had an evening meal which was delicious and the breakfast was decent too. Overall we ate very well and were happy with all of our meals.

We also used the swimming pool and had a relaxing swim.

The staff were very nice.

I would stay again.

Not a complaint, but it's worth noting that although this is called Georgian House Hotel, it's really a large coporate hotel, very close to the motorway and busy main road. The view from our window was a roof top with ducting and air con units, again it's not a complaint but I'm trying to give a realistic account of my visit for future travellers.

The only complaint is the ladies changing room in the fitness area next to the swimming pool. it should have been refurbished years ago. Sorry but I wasn't prepared to use those facilities and quickly got dressed and showered in my room.

we badly needed a break mid term, so decided on a hotel that wasn't too far away. We arrived (having overshot, the signage isn't great) I was impressed by the bright reception & the warm welcome I received. Check in was easy & we made our way to our room. I wasn't expecting anything great, but we were delighted, a bright, spacious bathroon, full size wardrobe, the room opened out to a very comfortable space. A huge bed (SO comfy) a desk, decent tv & a fab sofa.
We went for dinner in the bright & modern bistro. We shared an Indian platter of samosas, bagis & Pacoras which was delicious. Hubs had the sweet potato curry, I had fish & chips both were lovely. The house wine is decent & reasonably priced.
We slept like logs & enjoyed a very yummy breakfast. There are juices cereals & pastries to start with & a cooked buffet that you help yourself to. The staff were lovely & cooked some veggie sausages which hubby loved.
We had ordered a table for dinner but someone took it! The staff member went above & beyond to sort us out. She did, & we loved our table. We shared a huge plate of nancos, I had pork & he had veggie burger. Both were excellent.
We ended the evening with a cocktail!
It is a very welcoming place. Every member of staff is terrific. There is a health club & pool. Spa treatments can be bokked. Parking is secure & free. I loved every second of our stay.
2 minor niggles, not over keen on the bath & the walls are thin. Did it out me off? NO. Will we return? Oh yes indeed.

I had a business trip to Bolton and attended conference onsite after overnight stay in the hotel. First on arrival I was told there was no room available despite my booking online, which was promptly resolved by the manager. I did get a quiet room as requested but the room was in need of modernization. It was hot in the room but no alternative duvet was provided and it was too late to contact reception. The hotel was clearly booked in and the breakfast was busy with food items frequently missing. I would suggest the the breakfast which described as "very good" did not fulfill the promise with its content, however staff was very helpful. The coffee/hot tea machine needs a friend by the side so that the queue for a hot drink is manageable. Catering on the event was satisfactory, though it felt that in overall the venue was cutting it's costs by reducing staff numbers. It was suggested on the website that the venue had a gym/swimming pool, which I not got made aware of on arrival.

Wanted to stay the night in preparation for my wedding next year. Rooms nice and big. Breakfast was nice. Pool and facilities were excellent. Drinks a bit pricey but you expect that in any hotel. Reading some of the reviews think they must be used to staying at 5 star places, very nice for what the hotel is advertised as. Unfortunate alarm in the night but at least you know there is a process in place.

This was not a good experience. Booked 2 rooms on a 2 night with dinner package. Arrived on first night to find only 1 room was showing and only one single room was available. This was after numerous emails and telephone calls to confirm booking and arrangements. I showed the receptionist (Ashley) my booking for 2 double rooms close together. One should be accessible room for my elderly parents. Manager called and was initially offered a rain damaged room that manager deemed fit. I stood my ground for an accessible room as booked. I was then offered one with manager authorisation. Rooms still on different floors and opposite parts of the hotel. Not what we had booked but nothing else was available. I accepted this grudgingly as it was now 10.00pm and we were all tired after a 3 hour drive. Both rooms were poorly maintained (missing selves, stained carpets, poor grouting) and had request towels as well!
Breakfast was a steady affair. All the usual suspects - cereals, fruit, crossiants, juices, help yourself coffee and a selection of hot fayre but no hash browns or potato dish?
Did not use pool or spa.
Dinner went from OK to bad to worse. Ordered food at bar to be told that they had run out of hummus at 8.00pm on a Wednesday night? Ordered starters and mains. They had also run out of Becks Blue and there was no other alternative. The coke draught machine as not working either. The starters came after a short wait. Nice soup and garlic bread. We waited for our mains and waited some more and dishes were not cleared either for 30 minutes. In the end I went to bar and told then our mains had not come. Barmen asked which had not come? I said all of them and he rang kitchen and told me that they would be 'fast-tracked'. I got the feeling they had forgotten about us. They arrived 10 minutes latter. Burger and chip was good. My pasta was warm on the outside and stone cold in the middle. I think it had been microwaved badly. The server noticed that I'd left my pasta and asked if everything was alright. I explained the pasta was cold. He offered to warm it and a free drink. I declined and ordered dessert - sticky pudding which was the best thing we had that night.
Check-out was quick but no real apologies offered for the booking/room issues we had encountered.
Would not recommend unless you are desperate or check booking in advance and get in writing.

Attended a training session here. Ample parking, hotel staff are pleasant. Had slight issue with air conditioning in the suite. Luckily I brought sandwiches as There aren't any shops nearby to grab lunch & my colleagues mentioned food was very expensive at the hotel bar. The venue did provide lovely coffee & biscuits

We really enjoyed the hotel and our stay, the facilities were great, all complimentary. Steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and pool, towels were provided too. Really couldn't fault the place. The staff were very good and friendly and Jen was particularly helpful and gave us great advice and service too. Will definitely recommend to folk who just want to chill and relax.
Thanks guys!!!

Once was quite luxurious but now tired and a bit shabby. The room was clean and the bed good but the bathroom looked like it had been maintained by an eight year old, mlastic all over the place and poorly fitted panels
Before booking in make sure you don't have a partition door between rooms, it is as thin as paper and i could hear every word, cough and fart.

Room was clean, bed comfy, bathroom spotless. Bar prices are a bit high, but that's norm at hotels, I guess. All staff I've met is absolutely brilliant, very kind, polite and helpful.
