We have stayed in this hotel on two occasions before, it is very convenient and suited our purpose. However the food for the evening menu was not very good. The breakfast was excellent though and the Staff were very helpful and attentive

Hotel was nice and welcoming rooms were very clean and spacious, furniture was a little dated and tired looking.
We were looked after by Marmite and Zowie who couldn’t do enough for us during our stay we had a table reserved and beautifully set out by Marmite for our Anniversary meal and Zowie made it all the more special by being so attentive as well as doing all her other duties we were given a complimentary bottle of Prosecco which we didn’t expect these two members of staff are such a credit and Mercury Bolton are lucky to have them on there team that’s not to say the other staff went good we could not complain about anyone as all the staff were friendly and helpful.
My wife went for a swim and Jacuzzi the facilities were really nice
We would defo go back again

The rooms were adequate and clean, but quite dated. Bathroom needed a refurbishment. We missed seeing staff showing the "northern hospitality" as everything seemed too much trouble for them. Meals took a long time to arrive and menu choices were very limited. The food was extremely salty and over spiced, although we do usually enjoy a spicy meal. Although the plates came out hot, the food temperature lead a lot to be desired!
A special mention to Sheila on reception who was smiley, and very helpful in answering our requests.

Absolutely superb hotel. Very classy, Check in was a breeze, had my room ready the moment I got there, which was a little early to normal check in time. Breakfast staff MARMITE, GERMAINE, LYDIIA are very nice and very good customer service and very friendly.Front desk staff CHRIS and SHEILA and night staff are great and very helpfull. Sheila arranged to extend our rooms in short notice while hotel was fully packed I suggest to management to promote them in higher level ,Room was tidied up everyday with new towels and a freshly made bed which was nice to come back to. Will definitely stay here again if in town. Highly recommended.

First thing say is that the hotel is incredibly cheap and therefore good value for money so the below should be considered with this in mind - you cannot criticise such value - i have been using this hotel for 10 years and during such it’s got older without any apparent significant investment - rooms all seem in a similar old and threadbare condition - bathrooms are from the last century - hotel colleagues seem to be going through the motions and often seen sat out the back of reception which is often a telling sign , gym and pool open albeit fully booked when tried to use - fairly depressing stay but will return post a refurb , should such happen

We’re on our last night of 3 and nobody has been in our room to take rubbish or replace anything. 2 Paper cups were provided, no spoons, just 2 wooden stirrers so we went out to buy our own mugs, coffee and borrowed spoons from the bar. The premier inn we stayed a night in en route was far better equipped.

It’s grim as we don’t have access to anything to clean the room ourselves - my partner took a bag of rubbish down to reception as we didn’t know what else to do with it. Goodness knows what happens with longer stays - I’d be tempted to make more than one booking and change room midway through if that’s what it takes. We should have been warned and our room should have been adequately stocked for 3 nights - with an extra towel, enough toilet paper etc.

There’s no fridge, no air con and our room overlooks a very busy road so bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper and don’t want to sleep in a sauna.

The room is spacious but shamefully tired. Like everyone had said, It’s 2 decades overdue for an upgrade and really devalues the Mercure brand.

That all said, dinner in the bar was lovely and the staff couldn’t have been better. I feel for them as the hotel is clearly understaffed and they are so friendly and helpful. Parking was easy and it’s close to a great retail outlet with some good restaurants and shops. We enjoyed a meal at Wagamama.

From the moment we walked in they treated us like royalty! I cannot begin to describe the sheer delight on her face, as the love of my life was greeted by the manager ‘Bronwen and the team as we were shown around this beautiful venue. They knew exactly how important this was to her! Every single member of staff had smiles on their faces, which in turn made us feel warm, happy and very welcome. Thy are beautiful people; well dressed and exceptionally well mannered. Thank you Irene, Lewis and Nadine!

Bronwen’s threw in an overnight complimentary stay and added the use of the leisure club which had a Jacuzzi, pool, sauna and steam-room. Furthermore, their venue dresser ‘Julie’, went above & beyond to make our experience especially romantic; In our opinion she is highly talented with an exception attention to detail.

The atmosphere at the bar was perfect! Chris made sure you were not kept waiting & service was right there when you wanted it and the prices are very reasonable.

The lighting was perfect, the music was at comfortable level and the ambience and dancefloor simply blew us away. You got so much more for your money and the service provided was phenomenal!

My wife was buzzing with excitement and still keeps talking about how beautiful our time was at this venue to this day.

Love and Best wishes,

The one thing about this hotel is the staff who are always friendly and engaging, rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable.
Unfortunately the rooms let it down, of course the hotel has been in lockdown for most of the past year so I would have thought that would have been an excellent time to sort out repairs.
My booking had 2 rooms and between these 2 rooms I found issues with a badly cracked sink, broken bath panels, broken bathroom tiles and a chair that had no padding and was badly stained from previous stains, double glazed windows with blown seals
The furniture within the rooms are dated and worn.
Dining and bar service was outside or via room service, but given we ate outside the hotel didn't bother with putting heaters or pods on the patio "as there would be no point,as we go back to normal next month" meaning people can eat Inside..I hate to say it we are in unprecedented uncertain times and this is the new normal ..the hotel is clearly not prepared

Lovely hotel but I gave 2 stars less because; fried eggs not nicely fried (burnt/crispy base, not soft pure white). Also shower was weak but lovely bathroom (large). Bedroom had horrible leak marks above bed but still a good size room. Chuck-out time was TOO early for a Sunday (11pm instead of midday or 1pm).

Lovely place for a wedding and we had a fantastic night. Only 2 or 3 people on a bar at a wedding wasn't great. Queued up several times to be waiting at least 20 mins each time. Other than that it was great.

I have only ever visited the hotel to use the pool so can't comment on the rooms or hotel experience. I can say that there is ample parking to the rear of the hotel.
Moving inside you will find the gym and pool in the basement of the hotel accessible via a set of stairs or a very small lift.
The pool itself is quite large with a small hot tub to the side. Personally I find the water a nice temperature but people have mentioned that it is cold so just mentioning it in case you are swimming with a small child and you want to bring a wetsuit to keep them warm.
The poolside changing facilities are well equipped with lockers, toilets, showers and baby changing facilities in both male and female changing rooms.
I have had to knock a couple of stars off because the state of the room which houses the pool is a bit dire. The entire roof has blue netting suspended from it to catch what appears to be large chunks of rust or dirt. Not to mention the constant dripping of condensation.

Dear all,
My wife and I had been let down last minute by a dreadful couple at our local Golf Couse Venue in Bolton. Left totally devastate and with less than a week to go before the big day I was frantically searching for an alternative or face postponing our wedding day.
By some Miracle ‘Nadine & Bronwen’ from the Mercure - Bolton Georgian House Hotel in Blackrod heard of our situation and offered to help, and invited us over to view the hotel venue. I cannot begin to describe the surprise and sheer delight on her face, as the love of my life was greeted by the management and staff as she was shown around the establishment as if she was a princess; they knew exactly how important this was to her!
From the moment we walked in the Management treated us like royalty! I am not joking; every single member of staff had smiles on their faces, which in turn made us feel warm, happy and very welcome. Thank you Lewis!
One of the first things you notice is just how clean and fresh the establishment is, and you find yourself impulsively marvelling around the place as your eyes soak up the sparkling clean ambience; it was a truly delightful feeling.
It is worth noting that, parking for a great number of vehicles is not a problem as they have a massive car park which is clearly marked-out, well lit and based on the grounds.
As we were still waiting for a full refund from the Golfing Club Owners, this beautiful venue was slightly out our budget. However, Bronwen’s kindness and generosity didn’t stop there, and she bent over backwards to help keep costs down and made it happen. For example, the hotel management threw in accommodation booking us in for an overnight complimentary stay and also added the reduced event rate inclusive of full English breakfast for two and use of their Leisure club. they even had a pool, sauna and steam-room! we were absolutely blown away by this.
you got so much more for your money and the service provided was phenomenal. There was also a lovely lady called ‘Irene’ who was like a ‘fairy godmother’ to my wife; and fixed her dress, brought her cups of tea and made her feel special throughout the entire stay.
All the staff were just brilliant, very welcoming, warm, friendly and just so pleasant with us. This really made us feel more relaxed. It was so reassuring, and we knew it was going to be such a wonderful wedding day knowing that we had Bronwen, Nadine and the team behind us. My wife was buzzing with excitement and still keeps talking about how beautiful our time was at this venue to this day.
The hotel also provided us was the services of a venue dresser called ‘Julie’. This lady clearly went above and beyond to make our experience especially romantic; In our opinion she is a star! Highly talented and her professionalism is outstanding. Julie’s attention to detail and abilities would easily rival (if not surpass) that of some of these personality event dressers. Her attitude, appearance and style is exceptional. The Venue owners would be very wise to keep this girl!
The room had a private bar and the Bar Manager ‘Chris’ and waiters were simply beautiful people; well dressed, very smart and exceptionally well mannered. lighting was perfect, the music was at comfortable level and the ambience and dancefloor simply blew us away.
The bar was perfect! You are not kept waiting around; the food, drinks and service was right there when you wanted it. The prices were very reasonable and what I would expect to pay for such an amazing and quality experience.

We would like to say to Bronwen and all of her amazing team: ‘THANK YOU!’ for making our special wedding day possible, we had the time of our lives and will always cherish the happy memories we made here at the - Mercure - Bolton Georgian House Hotel.

stayed here overnight on 2nd sept. 2 coaches checked in. had to give order for dinner starter and sweet while we queued to check in. room ok, dated, I was on floor 2 . the windows were dorma, couldnt open them and they were really dirty. dinner took 2 hours because starters dished out, then had to have meal buffet style, queueing for ever then sweet finally arrived then coffee. afterwards there wasnt room in reception for all of us to sit so had to go to room. breakfast was buffet style again and was lukewarm. it could be a nice hotel if money was spent on it, even some entertainment on. it was a bit soulless.

Very good staff and very clean. Good quite location away from the main town. Food for a chain good and again for a chain reasonably priced. The negatives are the rooms especially the bathroom are dated.
