Stayed here for the first time as our normal hotels in the area were fully booked.
The rooms here vary depending on where you get put my room was on the smaller side clean and tidy but a little tired in parts however my colleagues room was bigger and much better.
At dinner they didn't have everything on the printed menu but there was enough to chose something different.
The evening meal was not good it was like eating a TV dinner and the quality was poor, the main course put me off having a pudding. Observing the meals served to other guests maybe my choice was not the best.
The breakfast was the opposite a very nice spread loads of choice cereals continental spread fresh fruits even down to a juicer to make fresh squeezed juices, the cooked spread was also really good on variety and how it was cooked.
It left me wondering how the evening meal was so poor when the breakfast was so good, I would go as far as to stay best of the five hotels I have used in the area.
They have a pool and gym on site for those of you who haven't been tired out by a hard day's work.
The location is close to the main road yet far enough away that it's not noisey the car par is large shared with an ambulance station, note I never heard an ambulance leave.
One thing that is not clearly stated that annoyed me is that they add a 10% service charge to the dinner bill that is not shown on your bill, I only found this out as I remembered the cost of the meals which did not equate to the charges on my card.
I would stay again just for the fantastic breakfast but eat out as there's some great local places to eat I would recommend the white crow, the crown and the white lion,

I would agree with some previous comments that the rooms are dated and in need of an update and it did smell damp and musty when we got out of the lift on our floor.. Mirrors not really in ideal locations in the rooms but it was clean.
My friends Wedding Day was absolutely amazing from start to finish, the staff were helpful all day, just an itsy bitsy question, why some tables got a full bread roll and some got half.....🙈🙈

Easy to find, loads of parking. I understand other comments on rooms being dated but it was clean and comfy. Lovely breakfast, plenty of choice. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Comfortable bed, decent room, friendly staff. The location makes it hard to find a place to dine out; dining in a burger and a pint cost me 21 pounds.
Breakfast is ok, halfway between a smaller and more homemade quality and a larger and diverse one typical of a hotel this size. Unfortunately, it falls short of both.
I would have rated it three stars, but I found the stay inexpensive, so the cost-benefit is excellent as long as you eat out.

Had my weddimg here recently and I can't fault a single thing. I had some concerns prior to the wedding as we had stayed and some of the rooms are tired, I voiced these concerns with staff and management and they assured me that they were in the process of renovating some rooms but would allocate ourselves and our wedding guests to the best rooms available... and they did.
The Manager, Eric was wonderful in ironing out our issues and the staff on the day were exceptional, Chris went above and beyond to ensure our wedding day was amazing. The food was spot on and the service can't be faulted. Thank you to all the hotel staff for making our day so perfect, we can't wait to come back and stay for our first anniversary.
If you're considering a stay here, don't consider it anymore, just book it. The leisure area is a perfect way to inwind or ideal for a morning swim to wake you up. All the staff felt like friends to us, so thank you to Eric, Sue, Chris, Irene and Zowie and the rest of the team for everything. All our love, Simon and Donna McMullen (formerly Buvhanan)

The staff are amazing, can't do enough for you. The rooms are ok, the rooms are ok. The whole place could do with a makeover though as it's dated. The drinks are very expensive. The food was by the worst thing. Overpriced, not much on the plate. They also continually run out of things on the menu.

Hotel has beautiful countryside views.
Staff friendly and welcoming.
Problem with hot water in our room. Staff organised a change of room.
Overall we enjoyed our stay making good use of the pool, sauna and jacuzzi.

I really enjoyed my stay here, lovely friendly staff clean room with all facilities. Check in was really quick and easy . Thank-you to the lovely lady who offered me a meat free sausage for breakfast. Great customer service is always about understanding the needs of the customer. I’ve given 5 stars because I’ve stayed in Bolton a few times but this stay with Mercure was flawless.

Rooms was ok and clean. Food wasn't great. Had cod and chips ...not nice. Tiny portion and tasted like frozen. Came out in about two minutes so can't have been cooked well. Staff were lovely and saved the place from a lower score

Really nice stay, rooms fair size pillows bit hard for me apart from that very comfortable.
The team day and night are amazing nothing to much trouble.
Food really nice a little bit pricey when you're staying for 5 dayz for work, rooms clean and livable lol. No shops so bring your snacks.
Would definitely revisit for a weekend break.

Lovely hotel but I gave 2 stars less because; fried eggs not nicely fried (burnt/crispy base, not soft pure white). Also shower was weak but lovely bathroom (large). Bedroom had horrible leak marks above bed but still a good size room. Chuck-out time was TOO early for a Sunday (11pm instead of midday or 1pm).

Lovely place for a wedding and we had a fantastic night. Only 2 or 3 people on a bar at a wedding wasn't great. Queued up several times to be waiting at least 20 mins each time. Other than that it was great.

Reasonable hotel, comfortable beds, bathrooms could do with upgrading, showers poor, breakfast excellent range, cooked fresh. Great service friendly staff, was not disturbed by housekeeping however room walls thin hear every word conversation from other room next door.

I have only ever visited the hotel to use the pool so can't comment on the rooms or hotel experience. I can say that there is ample parking to the rear of the hotel.
Moving inside you will find the gym and pool in the basement of the hotel accessible via a set of stairs or a very small lift.
The pool itself is quite large with a small hot tub to the side. Personally I find the water a nice temperature but people have mentioned that it is cold so just mentioning it in case you are swimming with a small child and you want to bring a wetsuit to keep them warm.
The poolside changing facilities are well equipped with lockers, toilets, showers and baby changing facilities in both male and female changing rooms.
I have had to knock a couple of stars off because the state of the room which houses the pool is a bit dire. The entire roof has blue netting suspended from it to catch what appears to be large chunks of rust or dirt. Not to mention the constant dripping of condensation.

We've stayed a couple of times and will be back. We stayed over Christmas and the staff were great, our room was ok, not a lot of room and the shower needs attention, a trickle of water. Room 441. Breakfast was ok, buffet style which is fine.

Great service, lovely staff. Rooms are so outdated and a little creepy, but the bed was super comfortable for me! The bath was also great.

stayed here overnight on 2nd sept. 2 coaches checked in. had to give order for dinner starter and sweet while we queued to check in. room ok, dated, I was on floor 2 . the windows were dorma, couldnt open them and they were really dirty. dinner took 2 hours because starters dished out, then had to have meal buffet style, queueing for ever then sweet finally arrived then coffee. afterwards there wasnt room in reception for all of us to sit so had to go to room. breakfast was buffet style again and was lukewarm. it could be a nice hotel if money was spent on it, even some entertainment on. it was a bit soulless.

Having been continually warned that the food would be 'dreadful' I was taken by surprise at just how good it was. Christmas Dinner served by extremely capable and friendly staff, pleasant function room, great DJ. Thank you ! 😊
