In places, it does look a little tired, but the beds were comfortable and we enjoyed our stay, breakfast was lovely and the spa was very good. We also had afternoon tea in the old tea shop too which was also very nice

Had a lovely facial with the new ESPA products. I’ve had a few treatments previously with Decleor products.

Shown upstairs and told to help myself to a drink and asked to fill the registration form. I waited in the comfy room.

Once called I was shown into the treatment room, shown some products and asked to pick a couple. Once comfy we began.

My therapist was extremely knowledgeable with the products and the skin analysis was great. Showed I was quite dehydrated and I had combination skin. Products were then used to suit. I was particularly impressed with her telling me exactly why she was using a product, eg lift and firm mask for my mature skin. The addition of a nice lip balm was great too.

My therapist also noted that I’d written that I suffer from mild arthritis and offered to do a hand/arm massage instead of the scalp massage if I thought it would be more beneficial, how thoughtful! I had the head massage though 😊which was amazing, she used a scalp balm which was fab.

It was, as usual, a lovely experience, my skin felt soft, firm and bright.....and I was very relaxed by the end of the treatment. To the point of nearly nodding off 😂

All in all a lovely facial which I can recommend if you’re in need of some TLC.

The ESPA products are fabulous and at the end of the treatment I was given a booklet highlighting the products used on me, a truly personal treatment for my mature menopausal skin.

Thank you to my therapist Zahra A. it was a lovely facial. X

The day started off okay bit of a wait to check in but once it came to us there was a friendly check in so not too bad, we decided to put our bags in our room and have a wander around we came to the residents bar but we didn’t stay long as we wanted to use the spa facilities which were lovely the receptionist was very polite helpful and friendly but can I ask what is the building site view from the outdoor pool about?, we then went to our room got ready and decided to head to the residents bar again the bar tender I think his name was John had an aura about him and really created a friendly vibe.. we then was joined in the bar by what seemed to be Christmas parties from all over the place as there was loads of them, this time there was two new staff Hanna and Joe they handled them very well and always had a smile despite having to deal with rude and pretentious guests so every credit to them two they said they was on the night shift so feel sorry for them if they have to deal with that all the time, we retreated to our room and there was all sorts going on around us I went down to reception and a man on the front desk called Arron listened to my issues and then reassured me that it would be sorted soon as possible and credit where credit is due I got to my room and there was a young man sorting it out.. Arron and his colleague must of been ran riot sorting out all the rowdy guests but we didn’t hear a peep from anyone around us after that so well done gentlemen.. in the morning didn’t really get to go in the spa facilities as it was packed.. im hoping next time it will be a little quieter so we can really enjoy ourselves in the facilities

Our room was very clean and warm. But, even though a little bed and food bowl was supplied for our little dog, that is the only positive I can give for this (supposedly) dog friendly hotel. We felt (except for the reception staff and female head waitress) that dogs were 'not really' welcome here. There was only one table it the whole of this large hotel where we could sit and eat a three course meal. This was in a small lounge where people from the gym were coming and going in towelling robes and eating afternoon tea. All well and good and lovely for them but we felt out of place and not welcome at all. The food was very average and not hot enough and the service was painfully slow with it taking over an hour for the food to arrive. As it was not very busy, we thought this was poor, certainly not the quality I had experienced years ago. There was a party of office people in the bar and one of the men made a snide comment about our little dog. Would not go back to this hotel because there are many many dog friendly hotels out there that welcome you with open arms.

Quality in general has diminished considerably since my last visit.
Room grubby. Food warmed up - especially full English breakfast offering has gone right down in quality.
Value for money both in quality of accomodation and food offering has diminished considerably.

Lovely old fashioned charm about this hotel. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Service was lovely, however is a shame that the view from the thermal suite will soon be populated by a housing estate. I would still come back and stay at this hotel view or no view.

Issues with inconsiderate guests at 2 am, who kept us awake all night. Avoid here if they have any sort of function on, if you go when it's quiet then you may be ok. The food is lovely, the setting is lovely but some of the rooms are in need of updating and if they are busy it might be that you get a shabby room. We have stayed before and had a nice room but that was on a Sunday night. AVOID when they have a wedding, Xmas party and 50th birthday all on the same night because you won't have access to certain facilities, you might not get a table in the restaurant and you might be kept awake all night by banging doors and people who have just got married and have no consideration for others!!

We had our wedding at LDV on 30/11/2019, our wedding co-ordinater was Jacqueline & our master of ceremonies was Nicola. We cant thank either of them enough for how amazing our day was, from the moment we viewed LDV to our wedding day we was supported and made to feel very special! The day ran very smoothly and any pressure was taken from our hands! Our guests loved every moment! The food was fantastic both breakfast & our wedding breakfast! Obviously the location is out of this world and we were so lucky at how beautiful the weather was! Our bridal suite was fab it was room 46 which allowed myself and bridesmaids so much space to get ready in on the morning of our wedding. Honestly we would recommend LDV in a heartbeat! Thank you so much for making our wedding day so special!

Bit of a delay checking in but then settled down to a lovely chilled break.
Booked on the black Friday deal and a very good deal it was. Staff friendly and attentive, wished it could have been longer.

Perfect Location.
We book this hotel for the spa & gym facilities.
Easy parking. Restaurant & Bar Meals 5*.
Friendly & helpful staff.
Very reasonable prices for what you get.
Highly recommended. :)
Upgraded to an executive room which was a lovely surprise on arrival, we didn't arrive until midnight but were greeted with a friendly face and a porter who insisted on carrying our luggage to our room.
The gym is immaculate and has plenty of equipment. Loved the infinity pool perfect temperature, Spa facilities are amazing. Will book again as always when visiting family back home in Bolton.

Beautiful food, rooms and staff. Overall extremely happy - but the hotel really do need to keep on top of the "reserving" of sun loungers despite notices to the contrary. More loungers please. The view from the infinity pool should be improved also...currently? A car park. Don't let those little issues put you off, though - they can (and hopefully will) be sorted and overall the facilities are stunning and well worth a visit
