Hotel was very easy to reach from the motorway. Impressive looking building although it looked in need of some TLC. Checkin was weird with the receptionist not really engaged and not acknowledging my loyalty. Room was a good size and very nice as was the bathroom with a bath and good sized shower. However, there was a large cobweb on the ceiling which I can’t believe had been missed by Housekeeping. Wifi in the room was non accessible so had to go up the stairs to the hallway to get a signal, and we were in an ‘Executive’ room. I asked reception if there was a way to fix this and they said they would have maintenance look at it. After more than an hour nothing had changed I went back to reception and was told it had been reported to the providers!! This is 2021, I have never experienced such a problem in any other Accor hotel. We were supposed to stay 2 nights but I requested a check out the next morning. The receptionist said he would have to check with the manager who then appeared and agreed to the early checkout with no other dialogue. As an Accor member I had booked the room on the Accor website and paid just over 100 pounds for bed and breakfast. I did some googling and found a 3rd party website offering Dinner, Bed and Breakfast for 2 for 110 pounds. This explained why the hotel was so busy and why the dining room was fully booked for dinner. The management are clearly not interested in loyal Accor members which is disappointing. It was also rather disturbing that hardly anyone was wearing masks or using sanitiser at breakfast. Bar and dining room both looked nice but overall this experience fell way beyond my expectations of Accor hotels.

The building is run down and needs a lick of paint and fixing in some places.
The staff are not very friendly and barely smiled at me during my stay, both front of house and at the Leisure centre which was a shame because this is the second time I’ve booked to stay in the last 2 months and plan to stay in the future but not for the service, but for the nice rooms and location….Nor was I asked how my stay was at checkout. It just feels as though the staff do not really care about hotel guests. Not a huge deal but good and friendly customer service checking in and out at the very least goes a long way!
At the moment, the Sauna and Steam facilities are not available which is a shame.
Room service didn’t leave any robes and slippers in my room this time either.

On the plus side, the rooms and facilities within the rooms are lovely! Very modern, stylish and comfy! The rooms are good value for money and are clean!
Check out is later than some other hotels which is nice too. Also, the pool and Jacuzzi were nice and warm!

Firstly :- great value for £83 B&B 👍bedroom big modern and comfortable . Nice modern bar and dining room easy check in and parking . Building needs modernisation ( in progress i think ) . Restaurant menu very limited and not befitting of a hotel of it's size and stature , but what we had was acceptable but nothing special . Although good service from the staff especially Kyle who was young, enthusiastic and polite . Breakfast was standard fayre too . Overall satisfied especially for the price , would love a re-visit if and when the hotel's had a full refurbishment . Didn't get chance to use the spa facilities.

First room offered was very noisy with multiple kitchen fans creating a constant droning noise in the main house, The door was hanging off the T.V. unit and even when the quarterlight window was closed could still put my fingers through the seal. So we were moved to a room in the courtyard which smelt very damp, In the morning you could hear people in the GYM below and noise from the motorway because even with the radiator turned off the room was far to hot and had to keep windows open and sometimes the door to maintain a comfortable temperature. There was was significant water damage on the bath panel the bath taps were twisted out of alignment and you had to wait 5 minutes with the hot water running to get hot water if you got it at all.
We asked for a table in the restaurant but were told sorry they were full even though all evening there was at least a third of the restaurant completely empty which we could see from our room.
Overall very disappointed with our "Luxury Hotel Getaway" there was certainly nothing luxury about it.

Just fantastic ,rooms are clean and very comfortable , every staff member so polite and helpful , the food was amazing , can't wait to return , a real find . We usually go to Ribby Hall sadly it was fully booked , but I'm sorry Ribby although you're fab Dunkenhalgh , is much better by far .The thermal suite was down , but did not spoil our weekend in the slightest , 5 stars and above .

Spacious comfortable room. Very friendly staff: Krishna, Sara, Christopher and Olivia in the restaurant were particularly attentive; the ladies at reception were very helpful and charming; and Callum at the bar was also very friendly. Dinner was excellent both nights, in fact better than we expected. I am not giving the best rating for only one reason: there was a party going on with very loud music late into our second night, in one of the reception rooms near us, which is not exactly conducive to a restful sleep. Other than that we had a lovely weekend and felt really welcome and looked after!

I booked our 4 night break through Groupon on a 4 night Dinner Bed & Breakfast offer & it was good value for the money, however I would not recommend if you are wheelchair dependent as my wife is, if I had not been with my wife she would not have managed to get through the doors to her room even though we were on the ground floor ( Room 515 ) pull & push doors. However I must say that our room was wonderful & the view out was beautiful. We must say a special thankyou to Sara restaurant supervisor on our first 2 nights absolutely FANTASTIC & her team were just as good. The menu on our first 2 nights was though a little limited in choice it was first class in quality, presentation, flavours & the service was excellent . Our next 2 nights dinner had a change of menu & more fast food chain selection than HOTEL restaurant standard however the staff members serving did a great job with a limited menu. Only complaint was my wife did say her gammon was served cold, the floor manager did offer to cancel the charge for our sweet. It is said your day starts at breakfast while take my word for it that is not the case at The Mercure Blackburn. I had 23 years of buffet type breakfast in Her Majesty's Armed Forces British Army & it did not get any better at The Mercure. I would not recommend paying for breakfast if a local Café is close by use it. One appreciates that we are blaming truck drivers for the supply chain but to be 4 nights without Draught Stella Artois our stay Monday To Friday is a little bit of blame shaming. The best part of our stay was made by the efforts 3 suburb members of staff. SARA Restaurant. Ben Bar, Employee Of The Month well worth the award just Superb & Alison Housekeeping well done & thankyou to everyone, however we will not be back. Ken & Marie Room 515

A little tired in places but good value for money when bought as part of a dinner B&B package. The evening meal was pleasant and filling, breakfast was a little underwhelming but for the price would definitely recommend a stay here if you are in the area. Rooms comfortable albeit simple and empty of any extras (may be due to covid)
Overall a cheap, cheerful and comfortable Hotel

A Charming character filled residence!!
We certainly felt privileged in a privilege room, and experience customer service but I’m afraid to say it’s quite rare these days in the United Kingdom, but it felt quite normal in this hotel.

The hotel was really nice. Hotel staff were splendid and professional. The downside though I wasn't told to register my car so expecting a parking fine anytime soon. Though I was assured it would be cancelled

We stayed here for one night to attend a wedding in the area, the room was gorgeous! Large room, comfy bed, large TV. Bathroom let it down a tad as it didn't fit in with the refurbished room but all clean and served its purpose. The staff at the hotel were really helpful and polite. However there are four security staff milling around in the driveway who stop your car and ask for a pass before allowing you into the carpark. We wasn't told about this so we explained we didn't have one. The security just kept saying pass at us instead of explaining we could show a key card or booking confirmation. One became quite abrupt and rude as we tried to get signal to show our booking online. He eventually told us to drive in-without the proof of booking because he basically got sick of waiting. It's quite intimidating driving up to have security stand round your car and tell you the hotel needs security but not explain why, without warning when booking ect. As we waiting for a cab to take us to the wedding they also had an altercation with another cab driver dropping a guest off who got out and calmly told them how rude and obnoxious they were to him and his passenger. I'd love to know why they're there in the first place. Not even in a uniform, just their own clothes. Very odd. Breakfast was lovely and plentyful, and the restaurant is beautiful. On a side note if you need a cab, Google your own as the hotel rang one that was 40mins late and charged double what our cab back charged. Obviously not the hotel's fault but may be a helpful tip to someone else in our position. Didn't use the spa so can't comment on that.

I enjoyed my stay and would stay again. It wasn't perfect but any problems were quickly sorted. All the people working at the hotel were nice and very helpful. We had two evening meal in the hotel restaurant. The first night was very busy but service was good. The steaks we ordered were undercooked. My wife sent hers back and it was still undercooked! The price of our meal was reduced to compensate us and we were happy with this. Breakfast was very nicely cooked using good quality ingredients.
The room had recently been refurbished and had some issues. Cupboard doors were badly fitted and fridge had been put in a cupboard, so did not work. I took the fridge out of the cupboard and it worked great. Very quiet and cool. We used the swimming pool twice and had a good experience. Some work was being carried out and because of this, there was some issues with dust.

We were on a coach tour and stayed here for four nights. We were allocated room 8 which overlooked the front of the hotel.
The room was very clean, bed was comfortable with a Ute TV on the wall. The walk in shower was also very good.
A special mention of the resident magician Resh, he was brilliant!

Booked an overnight spa package with bed, breakfast, evening meal and one spa treatment included.
Our room was large with 2 double beds and was spotless. The beds were really comfy. The food was really good, we had lunch, evening meal and breakfast and all meals were lovely. The waiting on staff were very polite and friendly. The spa treatments we had were luxurious and very relaxing. All the staff are so friendly, really welcoming and helpful.
The only one issue we had was as there was only one bar open, it was very busy in the evening and no tables left to sit at after our evening meal. There was another bar area but this was closed (maybe due to COVID?). Would definitely recommend and would love to come back sometime for another spa break as we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

We have stayed here several times over the last 20 years as really only viable option if visiting relatives in Accrington. At many levels it is a nice place and could be up there with the high scorers but the details let it down sadly . Staff are excellent but need more on reception at busy times . Mask wearing was so variable . Very concerned on the Monday we arrived. No masks at Reception or in bar and mostly no in restaurant in evening or breakfast next morning . Bad . Then clearly change of staff shift and Manager of restaurant who has been there for many years, and his now mainly female staff, all mask wearing and social distancing . Good. Sadly few guests wore despite some coughing and spluttering. Ugh
. Food - evening meal was good . Breakfast variable as much food had clearly been sitting there too long ( hard skin on fried eggs was horrid) Juice tasted cheap .
Our room was ok . Lots of space . Bed excellent. Had asked for a quiet room but only quiet after spa and bar guests left as people sat outside loudly late. Constant noise of motorway but actually as it was constant it could be ignored .
Our doors were not aligned so had to slam both entrance door and bathroom door to get them to shut 🤷‍♀️. Bathroom clearly not designed with females in mind. No shower cap . Nowhere to hang clothes. No second towel for washed hair etc etc. Women will recognise this. Or even long haired men . Would have preferred attention to smaller details to a fancy jacuzzi bath tbh . We were told we could only have complimentary water if we booked Executive. 😂😂. I have travelled widely Africa Asia Europe and never encountered water snobbery at this level ( ref attention to detail point )
. Check in and check out easy which is good though but although I gave Amex details and there is a £150 allowance pending from date of arrival , no credit facility was set up ( much to the horror and chagrin of our breakfast waiter as we had an Expresso coffee not knowing it was over £2 extra so had not brought down cash - attention to detail reference again ) and really , an extra charge 🤔🤭😿😂
Spa and swimming pool - first time I didn’t use as too crowded and no COVID awareness it seemed sadly by guests
This hotel needs to decide who it is aiming at . I understand it is difficult in current situation and a business needs to be profitable. But cheap economies cause a bad vibe. This hotel could be so so good with the right focus, staff well being and not trying to be all things

Stayed here in August with family for a memorial service I had a reception here For 30 people and 5 rooms plus other family guest it was very good well look after by staff had a few hiccups but we had just come out of a lockdown but it’s the lack of customer service response time if any ! to email or requests I’m still waiting for a response to 2 emails with a 3rd sent today I kinda of feel like we’ve had your money now, the request is a refund still outstanding or an update

Just had a lovely couple of days at this lovely venue with my best friend.. the spa treatment (back, shoulder and neck massage and a facial) was absolutely amazing, the two ladies were lovely and I would definitely recommend this...
My only gripe was that the room next door was an office of which we could here the chap constantly talking...
Lauren on reception was so lovely and friendly a very pleasant greeting to the hotel..
Our room was lovely, clean and tidy and very comfortable..
The young man in the bar was so lovely and friendly and made us feel relaxed and comfortable.. (Chris I think)?
The staff team were just that, “A Team” they all seemed to be friendly and comfortable with each other.
I would definitely return.
Thankyou
Jo

A lovely relaxing stay in a well run hotel with a nice Spa facility. Evening meal was also very nice with a 3 course meal included with our stay. Special thanks to our waitress Olivia who provided great service with a delightful charm and youthful exuberance. All of the staff were, in fact, pleasant and chatty and ready to help if required. It is a hotel with plenty of character which can be a bit of a maze if your room is on the outer fringes but a nice relaxing stay never the less.

Reall enjoyed our stay. Rooms were excellent clean spacious and comfortable. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and the food in the restaurant was fabulous. Real bargain won’t hesitate to stay again. The hotel was busy with a wedding, two coach parties as well as other visitors. However the service was seamless, the restaurant was well managed and our food was delivered without any delays. Breakfast was the best we’ve had in a hotel full stop and was freshly cooked, not standing around for ages congealing as it does in some hotels. Highly recommended if you want to visit the area.

Excellent place to be, family friendly, spacious rooms. We had a wonderful time. Gym and spa, nice breakfast and welcoming staff. Available parking but you have to pay. We were lucky to find it free during our stay.
