Booked a table in the dog-friendly restaurant and ordered exclusively from the specials board. The grub was very very good and came in large portions so we went home happy. Very busy when we visited on Coronation weekend, but well worth visiting. I'd put this at the very upper end of food I've had in the area.Service: 5/5  |  Location: 4/5 …More

Great food with prompt friendly service. We ordered only from the specials board and all four meals were excellent and very decent sizes. You pay a little more than elsewhere, but worth every penny.Rooms: 5/5  |  Service: 5/5  |  Location: 5/5

Been going to this pub for nigh on 55 years. Still kept its charm and it's country pub identity. Nice food, good beer. Haven't stayed overnight for 26 years so can't speak for the accommodation.Service: 5/5  |  Location: 5/5 …More

We had a WONDERFUL meal here the Saturday just gone. We phoned up 20 minutes before arriving (had been walking in the Lakes) and they accommodated us immediately. The service was particularly outstanding - friendly, quick, efficient. The food arrived promptly and was outstanding quality. Our dog was allowed in and we just really enjoyed the general vibe! Thank you to the team at The White Hart we will definitely be visiting again.

There's something very special about The White Hart. Good hearty food, charm and a cracking pint.
Our family were brought up at Burn Knott. Bouth will always be my second home.

We had a lovely 3 night stay in room 5. The pub is cosy and feels like a true Lake District stop. The rooms are basic, with a shower or a bath, but clean, comfy and perfect for a few nights. Jess was super friendly every morning welcoming us with a hearty Cumbrian breakfast. The view from the breakfast room is beautiful overlooking fields and woods. The pub itself is worth stopping at for food too. Proper pub classics for a fair price. The stacker burger is huge! Loved sitting next to the log burner at night with a pint or two too. Would definitely stay again. Thank you everyone for such a wonderful stay.

A quintessential Olde English country pub set in the beautiful scenery of the Lake District with a large car park at the rear. Low door frames, paving slab floors, low beams adorned with horse brasses, creaky tables, nooks, and crannies populated with stuffed animals and birds. A warm friendly greeting from the barman a choice of where to sit and a welcome for our dog. The menu has plenty to tempt the hungry patron and dog as they had a mini menu for four-pawed visitors too! We had lite bites, 3 magnificent Cumberland sausages, mash, veg and onion gravy. A skillet with caramelised red onion chutney and baked goat's cheese and salad. A bowl of skinny fries topped off the order (which were hot, crispy, and perfectly salted). Delicious, everything was perfect. We WILL be back and highly recommend The White Heart.

Good food and filling portion sizes, reasonable too! A nice array of real ales. Well worth a visit!

Update: the menu has changed since my first review, but the food quality, portion sizes and everything else remains the same high standard. Really good customer service on our last visit, still well worth a visit!
