I grew up in Barrow and we used to drink at the White Hart in the early 1970s. 50 years later, after living abroad, I took my wife to visit the lakes. The pub was great, both to stay and eat. Location handy for Southern lakes and Barrow, but off the main tourist track. White Hart has changed from village pub to a place to base yourself, eat drink and be welcome.

We stayed at the White Hart for 5 nights, my wife's mum is from the area so we where looking up ancestors etc.The White Hart team here are brilliant, friendly and go out of their way to help out. Room was cosy with a very comfy bed, the food is brilliant and they don't skimp on portions either from Breakfast to Dinner all home cooked and top notch. Great base to explore the Lakes and nicely away from the main touristy madness. We will be staying again the wife has declared.!

Only stayed one night but this is a lovely old Inn with lots of character. We booked a table for or evening meal had three courses and the food was excellent, as was the breakfast next morning. Booked a table in the dog-friendly restaurant and ordered exclusively from the specials board. The grub was very very good and came in large portions so we went home happy.
