Had a brilliant brunch here and loved the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. I had the eggy bread, which was delicious and perfectly done. The staff were really friendly, and I even got to meet the chef. It’s dog friendly too, which added to the charm. Met a couple of very sweet dogs during my visit. There’s also a lovely garden centre just across the way, which made for a nice wander afterwards. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

A fortuitous find but so glad we did. Walked past on our way to the park/monument & thought we'd stop on the way back for something to eat. Excellent food from an excellent chef. The staff were helpful, friendly & our food was cooked in an open kitchen so we could see the preparation. We have decided that at some point we'll go to the Base restaurant for an evening meal...
If you're nearby then go & eat there... it's excellent...

Absolutely amazing food ! Always a warm welcome from the friendly staff. Yesterday we had brunch the flat bread and brisket burger were so tasty ! Recently we visited for the steaks and a glass of wine , all were cooked to perfection , flavours were all delicious . Also celebrated a big birthday here with Family with the Tasting Menu was awesome ! The best place to dine in Ulverston without a doubt ! Can’t wait to visit again !

A scrumptious treat in a lovely location. Stopped in at BASE (well... outside in breezy sunshine :-) for cappuccino, and had the halloumi bagel on a whim. It was absolutely delish and I'm now going to make a habit of it. Super nice staff who were also really friendly to chap whose dog was looking for shade and water.
Going to book for the June set menu... it's been too long. Yum!

Amazing homemade hot chocolate and cakes - different from your usual bog-standard fayre.

We went for brunch service - the restaurant was very quiet due to it being early in the day but the staff were lovely and the food was really very good.
We will head back again to try the evening service, definitely.

Lots of nearby parking. Good kids menu.

Great food as always, just a little disappointed that floors being swept as we were finishing meal ready for evening service with kitchen staff all waiting for us to finish. Understand that you need to be ready for evening but perhaps you should take last orders at lunchtime at 1pm to allow to be ready for the evening.

The cafe is just below the Hoad Hill and John Barrow Monument so its a great place to have a cuppa or snack after tackling the climb up to the monument. The staff were very pleasant and you can sit outside or in. We relaxed and enjoyed our tea, then had a look around the Ford Park garden.

Great location in the heart of Ford Park. Very inventive food combinations that work really well. We had a very nice light lunch. The service was excellent and good opportunity to chat with the chef. Highly recommended.

Awesome location and friendly staff. Food is tasty but we have only visited and tasted the lunch menu so far. Is nice to stop here for a quick bite to eat before a walk up Hoad! Menu is a little limited but the food is nice.

Myself and my gran popped in for what we thought would just be a cup of coffee and cake, but after seeing the menu we decided to go for the soup. I cannot put into words how delicious the soup was. Outstanding. Love the ambience and the open kitchen. The food all looks delicious!

A group of us went from work, for a quick lunchtime catch-up. Someone had recommended this restaurant to us, and we only work around the corner (but there is ample parking in Ford Park, if you needed to drive).

I wasn't sure what it would be like for a working lunch, because it has a reputation of being a fancy place for evening meals and set menus; I still think it is the latter (and will be going back one evening to check!), but thankfully my fears for lunchtime were unfounded because the food was banging, the service was quick and the cost was more than reasonable.

Four of us ate from the lunchtime menu; two had flatbreads which were huge and tasted great, and the other two of us had bagels. Mine was packed with steak and caramelised onions, and tasted fantastic. Three soft drinks and a non-alcoholic beer and the total cost was £60. To be honest everything others were having at our table and at our neighbours looked fantastic. I'll have to go back again and try something different.

My wife and took the opportunity to visit Base after seeing that a party booking had cancelled. This was our very first visit and mentioned at booking one of us had a diary intolerance.

We arrived and was courteously taken to our table and had the set menu for the evening explained and before us mentioning the diary issue our waitress was aware and explained the alternative using diary free produce.

Amous Bouch arrived and set up the meal to follow beautifully.

1st course was a silky smooth celeriac soup with fresh bread. Wow divine.

Main course belly pork and super tender.

Dessert a beautiful chocolate cake with a quinnel followed by coffees and of course a cheese board if you can fit it in.

Although this was our first visit the food and service experience forces itself to the top of our restaurant list to return to frequently
