A super gourmet evening taster meal .Excellent tasting food ,superbly presented .Accompanying wine choices were excellent and the staff ultra helpful and friendly .A chat with the chef and owner Mark toppled the night .For this standard the value for money was also very good .

Excellent service, emailed Mark the chef about vegetarian starter preferences and he tailored the offering.
Service was attentive but not too fussy.
I'd have given 5 for the atmosphere as the vibe was really chilled but music is very important to me so would have preferred instrumental background music (that's subjective & such a first world problem!).
We had a great night and totally recommend this place.

This fantastic restaurant has become a place my husband and I visit on a regular basis. The food Mark and his fantastic team prepare and deliver to the plate is outstanding. Definitely be another visit this side of Christmas. Well done guys!

Our grand daughter treated us for my birthday , there were three of us and we had booked earlier . The staff were lovely and even though they were very busy we got really excellent service . The food was served efficiently and cooked to perfection . We could not have been better looked after and we promised to visit again in the very near future .

Stopped at the Base for breakfast, lunch & evening meal - food is fantastic, service is great - lovely location. The evening tasting menu was fantastic- catered for a vegetarian. Great choices for breakfast and lunch - highly recommended

I was quite underwhelmed sadly.
We turned up for our reserved table and the waitress shouted something to us at the door, but as she was shouting it across to us she had turned her back so we didn't make out what she was saying at first but it turned out she was saying basically sit where you want!
We could see our names on the reserved table so was slightly confused by the situation.
The food was OK but not to the standard wed hoped based on reviews we'd read. The reviews unfortunately didn't match the experience and we were hoping to try the evening menu with some friends but based on the lunch experience won't bother now.
The lack of experience of the waiting staff is definitely letting the restaurant down, it didn't feel genuine. We were asked if our food was OK a few minutes after it was served but the waitress had her back to us and was half way back on the restaurant by the time she'd finished asking us so felt it was insincere and she was just asking for the sake of asking. We'd hoped that it was going to be really good but unfortunately it was just average and over hyped. The final point to note was that we'd made a reservation at 1:30pm for a relaxing afternoon lunch on a special occasion, and an hour later the staff were locking up and we still had half a bottle of wine to finish!

Four of us had dinner at Base on Saturday and what a wonderful experience! All courses were exemplary and made harder by the fact that my wife has many dietary limitations (Glutens, onions, garlic, cauliflower..).
Mark and the boys were fantastic in the kitchen and Abby and the girls provided brilliant service front of house.Being locals, we will most definitely be back.

Once again an outstanding evening at Base. Mark and his team offer an evening of fantastic customer service and really wonderful food. Went for the evening tasting menu and it was full of flavour, both of us loved the gazpacho, full of flavour and with a hint of heat. There are too many good dishes to mention but the other that stood out was the S’mores, fun and messy to eat and a fine dining version of a camp fire classic. With Mark leading the kitchen and Abi leading front of house the have built an unrivalled team that never disappoint. We love to eat out in many restaurants but Base brings me back time and again and always will do, whether for a fantastic dinner or a casual lunch.

Great food and ambience, staff friendly and well informed. Delicious soup starter followed by a fish Kiev, fillet of beef and then two fab desserts! My Sister in law is allergic to nuts and we were more than happy with how the catered for her. 10/10

We’ve visited Base on several occasions and also had Mark’s dine out at home experience. Mark, Kirsti, Abbi and the team go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and relaxed, whilst providing 5star food.

Nice food and good service. However, my experience as a vegan was disappointing. There were two breakfast options listed on the menu as 'can be made vegan'. But on enquiry, it turned out that one of these couldn't actually be made vegan. I ordered the other option but to make it vegan they just removed the egg and charged the same price, meaning I paid nearly £9 for mushrooms on toast.
It was a shame as it could've been a great experience with a bit more thoughtfulness.

So pleased we made the effort to visit this cafe - been meaning to do for ages. Very pleased with the food, surroundings, decoration and staff and we will go back. Menu a little different - but as we were in time for the pre lunch menu opted for the garlic mushrooms - delicious.

Popped in here for breakfast after doing the Ford Park parkrun, and I am so glad we did. The food was incredible - I had the eggy bread with bacon, and my friends had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Both dishes were presented beautifully and served promptly. The waitress was very friendly. The toilets were clean and large enough for me to get changed out of my running gear in! :)
I only wish I lived closer so I could visit more regularly. Highly recommended.

Great welcome, fantastic food and ambiance with great serving staff . What we really liked was that almost all ingredients are sourced locally ( including the rum, which was delicious) . We also got to meet the star of the show the chef himself who came to all tables and chatted to guests after the meal

Another really excellent meal at Base to celebrate my birthday. Each course was a joy but the stand out was the desert featuring gooseberries which was absolutely delicious . If you love good food then this is the place to visit and it’s very good value.
