Me and some friends went to base for their 7 ciurse chefs menu. It was exceptional! We started with cocktails that were amazing very fresh and tasted too good!. We then had some wonderful fresh cooked bread with whipped butter and balsamic vinegar, this was divine! Great start to the meal. We then moved through the courses each one was cooked to absolute perfection and paired with wine. Each course and wine was introduced by the wonderful friendly staff. My favourite course by far was the duck that was out of the world! We finished the meal with beautiful fresh brewed coffee and sweet treats of marshmallows. We had a vegetarian in the group and each course was cooked beautifully and to the same high standard as ours. The atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful low playing music and friendly chatter from both the chef and his wonderful staff. 10/10 will definitely be going back!

Had a wonderful evening here on Saturday! The food was spectacular and was so interesting watching the chefs work!
They had wine pairings for the courses and did a great vegetarian option for one of our table (that we all tried a bit of too).

Absolutely amazing experience, the food was out of this world. The staff were excellent and extremely polite. The chef came out at the end of the meal to go round each table and speak to everyone, lovely touch. Will definitely be back

Absolutely delicious lunch. The potted shrimp and rhubarb and custard we thought were really amazing. Generous portions. Nice unique location worth the trip over for! Highly recommended!

Such a beautiful location, every bit of food tasted amazing, you clearly can see alot of thought goes into every dish.
The service was outstanding, all the staff that served us were professional, friendly and very engaging.
Will definitely be back and looking forward to see how the menu changes over the year.

We are lucky to have this wonderful restaurant in Ulverston. Consistently good food, made with interesting and fresh ingredients. The flavours are mouth watering. Thanks again to Mark and his team.

This relaxed little restaurant is an absolute local gem. We have enjoyed bringing family and friends here for special occasions as it is more than delicious locally produced food, beautifully cooked and presented. Mark obviously has a passion for his craft and we love that he is always looking at new experiences for your palette!

Lovely buzzing nice atmosphere, not formal or intimidating, very friendly and happy with lots of people chatting. Many hikers and walkers.

Breakfast butty really large. It’s basically a full breakfast in bread. 2 black pudding, one massive oyster mushroom, a fried egg, some streaky bacon, sweat tomato chutney type spread and two good quality sausages halved for ease of eating. The only thing I would have said is I’d have preferred the sausages whole as they had gone a bit dry, but I totally get it for the eating of the sandwich.
Best black pudding I’ve tasted. Lover the bacon and mushroom and egg was cooked perfectly.
In hindsight I’d have preferred toast over bread but didn’t think so ask, wouldn’t have thought they would have minded.
The chorizo hash brown dish with a fired egg and Kale and onion was absolutely stunning! Want that again now.

We had an amazing experience at Base! The food was absolutely delicious, and you can really taste the high quality of the ingredients in every dish. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. We enjoyed it so much that we came back the very next day for brunch—and it was just as fantastic. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great food and a wonderful atmosphere!

Got as a christmas present. Arrived and were promptly shown to our table, the waiter and waitress were very attentive and friendly. The service was very efficient even though everything was cooked fresh.we couldn't fault anything,the food was beautiful and very well presented,using local produce we had duck liver parfait, I had a chicken and chorizo hanging kebab and husband had the bbq beef one,I had lemon syllabub for dessert.A lovely dining experience,we will be back

We were at my dads in Ulverston for the weekend and it happened to be Valentines so thought better book a meal! Had been to Base before at the end of our walk for a coffee and cake and decided to try the evening there. We were not disappointed and had a wonderful evening which was perfect from start to finish. Atmosphere was great, tables were laid out lovely and it was a full sitting. Food was wonderful servers were great and the Chef did a fantastic job of getting all sittings out at once and to perfection. We spoke with chef at the end of the evening and thanked him saying we would love to return for one of his taster menus at some point. Thank you to everyone at Base!

Visited for the Secret Supper Club and it was incredible. Possibly the best meal I've had. The quality of the food was excellent and trying to figure out what each course was added a fun extra dimension. The chef and they're team were really friendly too. Can't wait to go back.

tucked at the bottom hoad hill ulverston. This is a gem of a place the food is amazing. they are equally obliging if you just want a coffee. The atmosphere is very chilled the decor relaxing and the staff so polite and helpfull. Definitely recommend you go.
